From the new “Real Meg Whitman” website:
Meg Whitman tells the public she has a “spine of steel” and is ready to tackle the hard questions that will face the next governor of California. However, Whitman has ducked debates and has regularly refused to answer questions from the media.
On March 9, Whitman’s political cowardice reached new lows when she invited press to attend an “open press” event in Oakland but then refused to take their questions. Whitman hid behind staff members, security personnel, and even a screen that the campaign unfolded to keep the press from taking pictures.
What was her excuse for this “bizarre” move? Her campaign claimed that she was running late for her next event. However, Whitman forgot to mention that she had enough time to linger at the scene for an extra 30 minutes after rushing television and newspaper reporters out the door.
What is even worse is that her campaign blamed the company hosting the event for not allowing the press. As it turns out, it was Whitman who did not want media coverage, not the company.
Sounds a lot like the Sidhu campaign. I wonder if we will ever see (or hear) from him again.
