Away back in 1998, the people of California in their infinite wisdom passed Proposition 10, a tax on cigarettes and tobacco products the revenue of which was to go to the creation of a vast new state and local early child development bureaucracy. At the time, and even subsequently Republicans have assailed the tax and its main advocate, Rob “Meathead” Reiner for this statist approach to whole village child-rearing.
What many people don’t realize is how many supposedly conservative Republicans have made small fortunes participating in skimming lucrative contracts of questionable value off of the tax proceeds.
Let’s take a look at how this works in Orange County.

I have no problem paying someone like Pringle to get back some of the tax money that was ransacked from the taxpayers by Reiner’s BS government program. Just because Republican’s oppose a program doesn’t mean they should let tax revenue be siphoned from our county without an attempt to return it.
#1, you not getting it. He didn’t do anything but rake money right off the top – and that makes him the #1 tax money ransacker.
BTW, Prop 10 revuenue isn’t “siphoned” from the County.
P.S. You like the idea of a public agency paying Pringle $600 a day to lobby for big government feel good programs? I sure hope you’re among a small minority.

i found out this exact little scam about a year ago.. when i started to look into prop 10 and Orange County Families Commission. I actually went to Bill’s office to ask him about why these programs catered two only one population.. Ridiculous programs like HABLA million+ dollars to fund a program to teach Spanish speaking parents to converse more to their children in Spanish.. a Autism program were children do not need to be tested for Autism – over 100 programs to serve the underserved and vulnerable of Orange County.. But if you take a close look at who is really being served up a big bunch of dollars its, RINOS who figured out, ” if you can’t beat them, join them!”.
Look at all these Organizations – Health Alliance – Caloptima, Healthy families of Orange county – loads and loads of Not- for profits profiting from all these props..
Its hilarious to ask questions on who do you serve, why and how much do you make?
The director at Mercy house told me he would sue me for asking the question – “is most of your homeless non-citizens??
From the schools, to the local social services – all the grants, funds in Orange Country are geared to serve the illegal immigrant population – why? because in Orange County they did not have a American poor so they started referring to illegal immigrants as the underserved and the vulnerable to get financial grants..
Look at who is on all these Non-profits and commissions??
Choc hospital was going under in the early 1990s until the supervisors created Caloptima (have you seen who sits on the board of this federal scam??) “then almost over night” – as they put it they enrolled thousands of uninsured into the program – who were they?? – illegal immigrant families with American born children, illegal expectant mothers ect… – Choc health Alliance then took off!
Clinics started to open – Coalition of community Clinics – all Caloptima patients- they are not suppose to give federal aid to illegal immigrants so they created, The Healthy Kids Program and aided a Non-profit called Calfiorniakids program..
CFO kim cripe not only sits on the board of Orange County families commission but so does Dr. Minon ( who was also on the board of a Non-profit called latina Access..
All these non-profits are a web of the same people who have figured out a way to share the wealth of taxpayer money with their upper crust friends.. For a good cause of course!
Please look into the Legal Aid Society of Orange County next… that one is a real piece of work – unemployed lawyers fighting for Social Justice for the poor! Of course none of their clients are illegal immigrants?? yeah right..
guess who this scam gets some of their money from.. The IRS, Orange County Courts.

Rick, I’m afraid you are confusing Republican with “repuglican.” The latter is a big talking “conservative” who is really nothing but a big-government shill – and making money doing it.
Not all Republicans are repuglicans. A very small minority are, in fact. Unfortunately here in OC the ‘pugs are the shot callers. Hypocrisy such as the example noted above is the result. Stay tuned, there’s more coming…

For years the Orange County Commission hired former State Legislator Phil Isenberg as its lobbyist in Sacramento. What happend to him – why the change to Pringle? (or are they now both being paid to lobby in Sacramento?) I understand one of the main lobbying issues that all 58 county specific commissions work on is the perodic temptation of the Legislature and Governor to raid the Prop. 10 funding stream for State General Fund purposes but wouldn’t one lobbyist for these 58 be adequate?

If you accept the idea of governments paying influence peddlers to lobby other governments, then yes – there is no reason the entire Prop 10 infrastructure couldn’t employ a single influence peddler. In fact it would make sense.
#7, they are still paying Isenberg, too. $95,000 last year, plus Pringle.
This Commission is way out of control.
