April 21st: Senators send Bipartisan Letter to DHS Secretary-Janet Napolitano asking her to halt deportation of DREAM Act Students who attend college or serve in the military for two years.
“Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN) sent a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today, asking her to halt deportations of immigrant students who could earn legal status under legislation they have introduced called the DREAM Act (S.729).
The DREAM Act is supported by a broad coalition of education, labor, civil rights and religious leaders from across the political spectrum and around the country.
As you know, the DREAM Act would provide immigration relief to a select group of students who arrived in the U.S. when they were 15 or under, have lived in the U.S. for at least five years, have good moral character, are not inadmissible or removable under a number of specified grounds, have graduated from high school or obtained a GED, and attend college or serve in the military for two years.”
“Smart immigration policy balances strong enforcement practices with common-sense, practical solutions to complicated issues.”
- We know Cecilia Iglesias, independent candidate for 47th Congressional District supports the DREAM Act.
- What is US Rep. Loretta Sanchez stance on it?
- Also, what is the stance of the other US Reps (Republicans) or Democratic candidates surrounding Orange County?
you left out the word illegal . and no to the dream act . why should they get special treatment .
It’s not special treatment! It’s FAIR treatment!
i have a dream we actually deport the illegals
My America values and respects education as a human right! EDUCATION FOR ALL!!
its fair treament hhaAA when you break the law is that fair . only in the ILLEGAL ALIEN WORLD
So someone under 15 is suppost to pay for the actions of someone else? What kind of logic or fairness is that?
Let me see, if I move with my children to the Great New World , without the proper paper work, then I would be an illegal Immigrant there, correct.
So then the government there is going to punish my children for my act, are you really for that?

I don’t know which is scarier; your ignorance about the real history of the United States of America or your heart full of evil. Go back in history and remember where your ancestors came from. Perhaps they were most likely poor desolated and persecuted European, Asians or Latin American immigrants that found refugee in this land, regardless their race. I am totally against people that come here to abuse the US system and they don’t try to live up to the standards of this Country, but sabotaging their kids’ education is ridicules! The root of the problem is that if our GOVERNMENT wants to stop illegal immigration once and for all, they only need to make it a Federal Crime and I can assure you that by next month the problem will be solved. All of this is just a psychological political game and we are part of it.
