Waste Management has visited the Orange Juice blog 73 times over the past two weeks. As you can see in the graphic above, they have been quite busy during those visits.
Now we know where all those nice anonymous comments about Waste Management are coming from…
Could this have something to do with their high bid for the Mission Viejo waste contract?
I wonder what they are paying folks to read and comment on our blog? Might be a good gig!
Good Job Boys, Keep it up! This is excellent! What a great way to expose the fake (or purchased) support for the Highest Bidder! Good job keeping on top of this Larry!
Folks.
What we have engaged in on the Juice is “transparency” via blogging, in an effort called “vetting” out the potential bidders.
Sadly the Mission Viejo city council does not, or did not, provide a similar opportunity to council member Cathy Schlicht when she made a request on behalf of all members to see back-up data to support Joe Sloan’s recommendation.
Even todays Register says that the council will listen to the recommendation by Sloan Vasquez of Waste Management
to be our suppplier as if it’s a slam dunk. Maybe it is!
Larry,
You should post how much Waste Management has donated to the MV Council Members, if you have not already done so.
Larry,
I’m fine with Art’s suggestion, but to be fair, please post the donations, if any, from the other bidders, as well.
Art, I think they have all (All 5 Bidders) donated about 1,500 to Frank Ury, Trich Kelly anf JP. Cathy and Dave are the only two not to take money. (As far as I know) Larry can confirm the #’s.
Newbie.
Anyone with access to a computer can go to our city web site to see the campaign contributions.
OK. I just checked the city web site.
As of the last report, covering July thru Dec 2009, Dave and Cathy did not receive any contributions from the waste haulers.
Trish Kelley received $1500 each from CR&R, W/M and Ware Disposal. $4500 total.
Frank Ury received $1500 from CR&R, $1500 from W/M, $1500 from Athens and $750 each from Ware Disposal and Madison Materials. Total $6000.
JP Ledesma received $1500 each from all five.
CR&R, W/M, Athens, Ware and Madison for a total of $7500.
Newbie:
I would suggest you check the 460’s on the city web site. Maybe your friend Frank Ury can help you with that.
You can see just what all the candidates have taken—and from whom. Of course those alleged “other contributions” are not included.
Joe,
Larry was kind enough to look them up for me as I’m not as efficient on the City’s website as he is. My only point was that we should look at all of the companies’ contributions to the Councilmembers before we start singling WM out as corrupt for allegedly buying Council votes. As for Frank, I’ve talked to him a grand total of twice, so I guess we’re not as close as you assume. But you know what happens when you assume …
