After seeing the 55 South in gridlock around noon today, and hearing a traffic report on KNX that it was jammed from Chapman in Orange to Fair Drive in Costa Mesa, I suspect this promotional free admission and parking for an hour the first day may have produced a traffic and crowd nightmare. I wonder how many people were attempting to take advantage of these freebies only to find themsleves in gridlock and unable to get there by 1 PM! Then factor in 100 degree weather (my car temp read 101 in Orange at that time) and you have a recipe for a bunch of angry people. Hope that was not the case, but I would not be surprised.
BAW,
My oldest son took the bus down there with his friends. They are having a great time. I think driving down there would have been nuts!
