Nancy Pelosi has the unique distinction of being the only elected member of the House of Representatives from the “golden” state of California to become speaker of the House.
I only wish she followed the leadership example of Ted Pomeroy who served for one day on March 3, 1869.
While some may not like Newt, please bring back Tip O’Neill or Carl Albert, each of whom are now deceased.
November 2nd, and the following January 2011, cannot come fast enough for me.
Watch this very informative video of our Speaker and add your inputs.
http://www.breitbart.tv/pelosi-unemployment-checks-fastest-way-to-create-jobs/
is this the most clueless person in washington .. and the real scary thought is THIS WACK JOB IS 3RD IN LINE FOR PRESIDENT . nov cant come fast enough to get this complete ZERO out of office .
Haven’t watched the video yet, but the idea you’re talking about here isn’t that crazy.
Unemployment benefits –> more money being spent on groceries, insurance, gas, etc –> more income for businesses that provide those items –> more ability for those businesses to create jobs.
Unemployment checks get spent instead of saved. That’s why economists say they’re pretty efficient as far as forms of government stimulus go. Nixing them means a lot less money being spent in the economy.
well think about it,
Not many jobs out there. Nixing the checks will hurt a lot of families…
Hear hear “well think,” well thought and well said. That’s the kind of logic conservatives like Larry just can’t grasp.
Well if the Democrats were more worried about funding the benefits without raising the deficit, rather than making it a political issue they can use to bash Republicans, maybe it would get passed. I support Larry totally on this – she’s a lunatic, but for many more reasons than just this drivel.
All I can say is that by not extending the benefits I know of a direct impact. I work at a storage facility. Several of our current tenants are going to be impacted and they may end up being forced to sell the items they have in storage. Worse yet a couple may lose thier homes.
I know the national debt is increasing at a alarming rate, but this is one of the worst places to cut. I guess the Republicans think if they make things worse but blocking this they will get more votes in November.
Jim.
I have immediate family members who have taken major hits during this recession including one who will be impacted as his cannot find a job while his unemployment checks run out.
Using your illustration perhaps some jobs would be created. Auctioneers selling those items in storage where the bills are delinquent. There are others who have contacted me who are losing their homes.
Is it true that we have a few hundred billion in unspent Stimulus Funds?
Let’s not overlook the fact that we are at $145 billion in housing losses due to our good friends Freddie Mae and Freddie Mac. This is but the tip of that iceberg that some say may eventually reach $1 trillion dollars.
Folks. We need to stand back and reassess the total federal debt picture and make some painful adjustments. And Mr. president you cannot blame all of this on Bush 43.
My only point in posting this video is that I am embarrased by finally having California being honored to have one of our own become Speaker of the House only for it to be a bungling fool.
Larry,
Of course Obama will blame it on Bush. Heck, Biden’s now giving OBAMA credit for “winning” in Iraq. Until the Republicans take back the House, grow a conscience and find a backbone, and defund Obamacare and reverse the other business-killing atrocities this administration has foisted upon hard-working, tax-paying Americans, we will continue our descent into the abyss. Pelosi’s inane gabbing is Exhibit A of all that is wrong with the Democrats in control of two of the three branches of government.
Jim,
You’ve obviously been reading the MSM reports on this. The Republicans were willing to approve extending benefits if the Democrats would agree to fund just half of it with unused stimulus funds. Dingy Harry (Reid) refused. It’s obvious this is more of a political ploy by the Democrats than a real concern for those who may be losing benefits.
WE HAVE PELOSI , BOXER , FEINSTEIN , ALL SF . SEE A PATTERN HERE . SF VALUES . = NO GOOD . . WE WILL FIX THAT IN NOV AT LEAST 2 OF THEM .
