April 20th, 2010 the BP Movable Oil Rig “Deepwater Horizon” exploded and started a seemingly endless spewing of oil in the Gulf of Mexico, from a mile down on the sea floor.. Three days ago, they were able to find a cap and valve system that stopped the tragic major flow of millions and millions of barrels of raw crude into the entire Gulf region. Bravo BP, after 10 separate strategy failures at capping the problem – you are now ready to declare victory!
However, Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, the point man for President Obama……is saying: “Not so fast!”. Allen seems to think there are now “leaker areas”. Methane and some areas of Crude! Allen seems to think BP needs to open up those valves again and relieve the pressure or “maybe” the hole in bottom of the ocean may spring an even bigger leak. Hmmm, where was the good Admiral when they couldn’t find a solution to “the major spilling and spewing” for over 97 Days? Now he is the Expert!
Admiral Allen seemingly has suddenly decided that “he” is the Chief Engineer that should be guiding and directing the “Capping”. Does the good Admiral have a Degree in Petroleum Engineering? If not, who might he be listening to? Admiral, we need the names of these Petroleum Engineers that are backing you up on this.
This time we are standing with BP! They finally stopped the leak and we can’t fight that! We wanted the major spewing stopped and based on what we see – it seems to be working. Will it explode in the days to come or cause other leaks? That is a separate issue! It was Admiral Allen that said “that no one knows how to fix stuff a mile down!” Suddenly, now he is the expert!
The Legislators, President Obama and Admiral Allen should all be more concerned about the “original cause of the disaster” and what new Regulations are going to work. Monitoring that non-leaking cap and digging those so-called Relief Wells should probably be the current priorities.! Cleaning up and saving every Turtle, Bird and Sea Life should be next! Making BP pay for the mess, environmental damage, lost jobs and financial ramifications to the Gulf Coast – should be next!
NO MORE BP SPEWING Admiral Allen – EVER! Not without more “Expert Opinion” – than has existed or been used by the Administration fo far!
Whoa, settle down.
We’re all learning as we go, and trusting BP should not be emphasized. I want this to work as much as anyone. I wish there were a magical wand that could fix the well, the spewage on the waters and shore, and the economy of our southern brothers and sisters. It seems pissy and misguided to criticize those in charge right now. Like backseat drivers. This job needs to be done right, while we’re all still paying attention. Unfortunately time and patience are in short supply, so I can understand why the “Are we THERE yet?” folks in the back seat are antsy.
And I’m sure you’re giddy over Tiger Wood’s lackluster performance last weekend. He”s a very bad man!!!
