In collaborations among members from the California Legislative Asian Pacific Islander, Black, Latino and Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Caucuses, this Quad Caucus approach among its members expands the opportunity of CLCI’s Polanco Fellows to reflect the broader diversity of California’s communities.

“This program is the nation’s first of its kind and serves as a ground breaking experience for public policy training” said CLCI Chairman Senator Richard Polanco (ret.). He continued, “As future leaders, the CLCI Quad-Caucus Polanco Fellows will gain a unique sensitivity and understanding of the diverse communities served by the California Legislative Quad Caucuses.”

The term of CLCI Quad-Caucus Polanco Fellows Program will be 12 months beginning on September 1, 2010 and ending on August 31, 2011. Each Fellow will receive a monthly stipend of approximately $1,880 and serve as full-time staff in the Legislature or other branches of government in Sacramento. The CLCI leadership development program provides training in public policy, leadership, strategic management and legislative processes as well as on equality, race, class and gender issues.
