Three days in the monkey cage left lingering damage...
Yesterday, OC Register homunculus and repuglican lackey-chronicler Frank Mickadeit wrote up a story about possible contenders to a Todd Spitzer 3rd District Supervisorial run in 2012 – as a prelude to a Spitzer DA run in 2014.
The big names – outgoing assemblyman Chuck DeVore and Dick Ackerman deserve special attention, and we’ll get back to that in a bit.
But first let’s relish Mickadeit’s effort to stir up anti-Spitzer sentiment for the benefit of our Do Nothing DA who is actually endorsing serial law breaker Roland Chi in Fullerton’s city council race.

I have tired of Mickadeit’s columns reporting his elbow rubbing with politicos, including smoking cigars and drinking brandy at the Balboal Bay Club with Republican heavy hitters. He has sounded line a wanna-be and I have wondered where the line is drawn with regard to becoming part of the story rather than just reporting the story. His frequently used name for our DA, T-Rac or some sun monikor, also reflects a bit of coziness that sets of my alarm bell. Then when I read this latest column as you report here, my immediate thought was “Mickadeit is now trying to become a king maker.” Perhaps a delusion of grandeur is under way. I know being a columnist, expected to come up with something significant to say almost every day, is not an easy job, but that should not interfere with keeping an arms-length at all times.
Agree with Been Around…Mickadeit is a “homunculus” (had to look that up — “dweeb” would’ve been easier). When he first started writing his column, as a 20+ year OC resident with pretty good awareness of who’s who, I had to ask myself who IS this guy other than an amateurish name dropper with a bad nicotine habit? I also wonder who’s thing he pulled to get into Chapman Law (and if he’s still there?) — I’ll bet a lot of us geezers would’ve loved an opportunity like that for a second career.
Frank’s a hack and certainly no “maker” of anything or anyone. I can’t think of a time where he’d ever written anything really substantive, worthy of re-quoting or even good enough for a Facebook post. Hang it up, Frank, you’ve committed the ultimate of journalistic sins — you’re BORING.
This guy isn’t much of a reporter. He seldom breaks a “story” that was not fed to him by his handlers.
Plus is it any coincidence that this “trial balloon” gets floated the day before oxley publishes his version, which if history is any indication. won’t pull any punches.
Besides, I thought the GOP hated Gay men?
