WAR/PHILM bassist Pancho Tomaselli has generously donated an electric guitar valued at $10,000 to help launch the Anaheim City School District Education Foundation. The exclusive ‘1-0f-1’ finely crafted instrument comes by way of ESP Guitars and starting April 1st through the end of June is available online via an auction on Ebay.

The Anaheim City School District:

*Has faced a budget reduction amounting to $30 million over 3 years

*Laid off a number of employees and eliminated positions as a result

*Services more than 19,000 students in the District

*3,000 of which come from homeless or motel families

*85% of students qualify for the Free and Reduced Federal Lunch Program

The guitar:

*Is encrusted by 2,500 Swarovski crystals valued a $5 a piece

*Features the signatures of artists Dalbey, Valaika as well as Tomaselli

*Will feature the signature of musicians like Gerry Nestler and Slayer/PHILM drummer Dave Lombardo

The ACSD Education Foundation announces the donated guitar as its first fundraising gift. The website for the new nonprofit launched in response to the effects budget cuts notes, “As an independent nonprofit organization, we act as a constructive partner to Anaheim City School District. We champion change and help drive effective strategies that will increase student achievement. We are focused on innovations that will help students learn and grow.”

Anyone in the world can “make an offer” on the guitar and, by doing so, help support Anaheim’s elementary schools. Simply search “PHILM Guitar on Ebay” or visit the ACSD Education Foundation for more information.

You can read more about it on my latest OC Weekly Heard Mentality blog post. In the meantime, good luck!
