Santa Ana is being represented in the Olympics in London by wrestler Jesse Ruiz.
Jesse Ruiz was born and raised in Santa Ana, California and is the oldest of a family of six. Jesse’s parents are both from Mexico (Yucatan and Guerrero states).
WRESTLING HISTORY:
- Jesse started his wrestling career at Santa Ana Valley High School;
- Jesse was a two-time All-American at Santa Ana College;
- He finished second in the California Community College Athletic Association state finals both years;
- Jesse transferred from Santa Ana College to Menlo College; where he was a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics champion his junior year;
- Named All-American his junior and senior year.
Although there have been a lot of financial bumps on his career, Jesse has been able to surpass those obstacles by sacrificing and working hard on his sport.
- Jesse Ruiz qualified at the FILA Pan American Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Florida, to compete in the 2012 Olympics in London, England.
As an American, Jesse is very proud to represent Santa Ana residents and the community in the Olympic games as a wrestler and member of the Mexican Olympic team.
