Shawn Nelson Finally Posted Endorsements

I decided to backdate a bit this rather than detracting from other more important posts. But here goes!

Featured Shawn Nelson endorsers Curt Pringle, Dwight Manley, and Steve Sheldon. The mind reels.

I’ve given former Fullerton Councilman and current top Todd Spitzer aide Shawn Nelson copious amounts of crap for having up a website for what seems like months without even putting up a working list of endorsements for Judge.

I won’t say that it’s because of my prodding, but Shawn finally has put up his list. He shouldn’t have listed to me.

I’ve highlighted the organizations that aren’t law-enforcement related and the individuals I consider most notable.

Organizations:

This list screams out uncritical support for the police. Not judicious. Support them when they’re right, but not always.

It also whispers that he would not be vigilant against corrupt practices. Team Shawn welcomes Curt Pringle, Steve Sheldon, Shawn Steel, Buck Johns, Diane Harkey, and Dwight Manley. (What an OC “Murderers Row”! Why couldn’t he get Dave Ellis’s endorsement?) I don’t recall whether Mike Harrah and Bill Taormina actually count as “corrupt” — Vern will know — but I’m highlighting them anyway, just in case.

(Yes, I do note that Tom Tait’s name is there. Residual loyalty, I reckon, from Shawn’s days on Fullerton City Council.)

Finally, this list yodels loudly enough to be heard from across the mountaintops that Doug Chaffee and Lou Correa belong PRECISELY in this half-sordid and half-reactionary company! NO DEMOCRAT SHOULD SUPPORT THEM — IN THIS PRIMARY, IN THE RUNOFF, OR EVER. Lining up with this group is worth another censure from the DPOC.

In review, and allegro:

MARC GIBBONS FOR JUDGE, SEAT 11

SUNNY PARK FOR SUPERVISOR, DISTRICT 2

MIKE ORTEGA FOR CONGRESS, DISTRICT 46

THEY AREN’T ENDORSED BY OC’S WORST PEOPLE!

Added 6/5: What affiliation do many Shawn Nelson’s supporters have in common?

About Greg Diamond

Somewhat verbose attorney, semi-disabled and semi-retired, residing in northwest Brea. Occasionally ran for office against jerks who otherwise would have gonr unopposed. Got 45% of the vote against Bob Huff for State Senate in 2012; Josh Newman then won the seat in 2016. In 2014 became the first attorney to challenge OCDA Tony Rackauckas since 2002; Todd Spitzer then won that seat in 2018. Every time he's run against some rotten incumbent, the *next* person to challenge them wins! He's OK with that. Corrupt party hacks hate him. He's OK with that too. He does advise some local campaigns informally and (so far) without compensation. (If that last bit changes, he will declare the interest.) His daughter is a professional campaign treasurer. He doesn't usually know whom she and her firm represent. Whether they do so never influences his endorsements or coverage. (He does have his own strong opinions.) But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
