Remember the last time Trump disgraced Anaheim with his presence, in May 2016? Seems like a lifetime ago. A lot of us came and protested. Trump was gross, disgusting, hateful, darkly funny – many of us had been making fun of him since the 80s – but it still seemed unthinkable that he could actually be elected President. ‘Member?
A lot has happened since then, to America. We barely survived, and are still hanging by a thread.
THAT was an actual Trump campaign event, at the Convention Center, and drew the crazies from counties all around. Law enforcement presence was massive (because of chaos at previous Trump events) as I detailed here. The APD, along with police and sheriffs from around OC. were there in force, and cost the city hundreds of thousands (we gave up finding out how much.) One Trump-supporting clown shouted out, “Mr. Trump will pay for all this, he’s a billionaire and he pays all his bills!” Many of us, who had actually been studying Trump’s behavior, looked at him like he must be joking. You KNOW he never paid Anaheim or OC a penny.
Anyway I was there protesting, and wrote about it at the time. That was when our friend Victor Valladares scandalized all the local conservatives and got labeled a terrorist for bringing a Trump piñata! THIS TIME, a lifetime later – last Saturday – was the California Republican Convention, at the Marriot.
Once again, crazies converged from all the neighboring counties to bellow their adulation of the Ochre Abomination. But not so many people bothered showing up to protest. The local Democrats tried to put something together at the last minute, but there couldn’t have been many of them – friends of mine drove by repeatedly and couldn’t see anyone not waving Trump signs.

The Irvine chud who briefly ran for Congress against Young Kim, and started that violence at that Katie Porter rally a couple years ago? I can only echo Zenger’s unkind observation, “Why are most of these goons fat fucks?”
But I would be deficient as a chronicler of my adopted hometown if I didn’t report on the pearls of wisdom dropped by the Rotting Yam in our City of Kindness. For it was here, in Anaheim, that Trump unveiled his long overdue plan for preventing California forest fires: THE DAMPENING!

And it was right here, in the Fucking City of Fucking Kindness, that the Tiny-Handed FAUXTUS cracked wise about the near-fatal skull-hammering assault, by one of his loyal supporters, on Nancy Pelosi’s 80-year old husband. “How’s her husband doing by the way? Anyone know?” And the crowd yukked it up….

As always, the most depressing and inexplicable thing is not so much the grossness of this human being, but the fact that such a large percentage of Americans still want him to be their leader.
Do you know some Trump supporters, who otherwise seem to be nice people, who are not even particularly idiotic, and they have a hard time explaining their loyalty to the Tangerine Traitor. And when you criticize him or even MENTION him, they look pained, as though you were attacking something that is a very PART of them?
It’s strange and sick, and I don’t know what to do about it. We can only hope it is a fever that will eventually pass, when the year 2024 obliterates his fat smug orange ass like a wrecking ball.
In 2015 when Trump first ran for Office I chuckled because the idea of Trump be elected president was ridiculous. The Democratic Party seemed to do everything they could to get Trump elected and sure enough he was elected. What get gets me is seemingly otherwise intelligent Republicans worshiping the man. The problem is not Trump but it is the people who would elect such a man.
The Dems nominated Hilary Clinton, one of the most disliked people in the US – and she still got more votes than the Yam.
I contend any other Dem in the country could have beaten him.
Anyhoo, his latest visit really went over the edge, even for him. You’re right about his demented supporters. The “intelligent” Republicans – such as they are – are cowards or hope there’s something in it for them. There’s no moral or ethical compass, just grievance. But without the Yam there is no point of coherence.
Yup! This. (Except that Vern and I are among the many Dems in the country who could not have beaten him, only partly because of money.) But Bernie Sanders could have done it.
Fundamentally, I think that a lot of Democratic insiders (James Carville types) would have preferred Trump to Bernie because the latter would have meant losing control of their own party while they perhaps figured that Trump would be a buffoon (at worst) who could be endured and then campaigned against. (The latter did turn out to be true: big whoop.)
But the fix was in for Hillary. Her Campaign head in the Democratic Party was the Chair of the Democratic Party, someone who relished retaliation. I expect that it was much the same in most states.
Trump’s America First slogan was genius. Donald’s three marriages suggest a lack of character, but at least he is a sober jerk. There is no other candidate that can attract 60,000 supporters at a time. Biden’s rallies had eight circles, holding his staff members. He appeared to be on an outing from a Memory Care home. Biden’s border policy has brought in almost 250,000 just in the last nine months. Even Democrat Mayors are yelling, “build the wall, already!” The 2020 riots continue to this day in the form of crime and theft with no punishment. (Unless you were a January 6er who was set up by the FBI.) This chaos started when Trump was in office, but this culture dive has got to stop. Biden is handled by bribery until enough people see the truth. Then he will be disposable. That is why he was “selected” by the cheating vote counters. Why is Newsom making full hand-count voting ILLEGAL? ps. Remember Pelosi tearing up her transcript of Trump’s State of the Union speech? It is one less thing she has to move out of her office.
