Irvine district 2 Desmadre: Mojaher out, Yazdani Dirt.

Mojaher (no longer running), Yazdani, Starke, GO!!!!

Vern intro: Our friend Alex Mojaher, the progressive who ran for State Senator in the March primary against our other friend Senator Josh Newman and a bunch of Republicans, WAS gonna run next for Irvine Council district 2, in that city’s exciting first district elections – but now he has a new priority and we applaud him. There is at least one other great Democratic candidate in Irvine’s district 2 race, and this should help OJ favorite Jeff Starke.

So here is Alex’ press release from yesterday, followed by a new article demolishing ANOTHER Democratic Irv-D2 candidate, who is an apparent protege of Farrah and Melahat. Here’s Alex, who I forgot to mention is also a fine singer:

To my friends, supporters, and fellow Democrats –

Last week, I was deeply moved by President Biden’s courageous and patriotic decision to not seek re-election and give way to the extraordinary and historic candidacy of Kamala Harris. This had a profound impact on me. Many of you may not know, but I worked for a year on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, and sat on the floor of the Javits Center in New York City on Election Night with my heart in my hands.

It is clear to me that we must do everything in our power to prevent a second Donald Trump presidency and to protect our country from authoritarianism. Everything is on the line. Reproductive freedoms and LGBTQ+ rights are on the line. The communities I have been fighting for sicne I was a teenager are on the line. Our very democracy is on the line.

Which is why I have decided to suspend my campaign for Irvine City Council and to devote the next four months to electing our first female president. I have been invited to join Unite Here in Arizona, a crucial swing state, and will be working to organize and mobilize volunteers to join the ground game in that state.

We have many candidates running in District 2. It’s a crowded field. At present, the risk that Democrats split the vote and usher in a City Councilmember who does not reflect our values is too great, and while I am eager and had hoped to serve my hometown on the Council dais, I also recognize that this race is not where I am needed right now.

To those who believe in and have supported me, thank you for trusting me to be your voice, know that I will always continue to look for ways to serve, and will even consider a future City Council run. But for now, I plan to travel to Arizona throughout the months of August, September, and October to devote my energy to this presidential race, and I hope you will join me in working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot this November, and to deliver to President Harris a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.

With gratitude,
Alex Mojaher.

****************

So we say thank you, Alex, for your service – I would go to Arizona this fall too if I could – to help not only Kamala but the great Senate candidate Ruben Gallego whom we really need, to beat the loony Kari Lake and help us get back the Senate. Alex is right – there are too many Democrats running for Irvine District 2 – the worthy Jeff Starke, the well-funded William Go, and Parrisa Yazdani*, who seems to be (and apparently behaves like) an acolyte of Farrah Khan and Melahat Raifei. Our friends at Irvine Watchdog just published a devastating expose of Yazdani, of which we reprint, here, just the beginning:

*update – turns out Yazdani is NOT a Democrat, but DTS

Mayor Farrah Khan’s newest Planning Commission appointee and endorsed candidate for Irvine City Council, Parrisa Yazdani, had $900,000 in State and Federal back taxes and fines forgiven through Chapter 7 Bankruptcy on April 12, 2024. Yazdani, an active Great Park resident since 2018, is also defending allegations of fraud and embezzlement by a small business loan creditor. According to publicly available records, Yazdani’s tax delinquencies began accruing as far back as 2011.

Yazdani’s Petition lists various types of unsecured personal debt including $23,715 owed to Bloomingdales, $22,157 to a Wells Fargo credit card, $17,396 to Nordstrom, and $40,000 in attorney fees to Brea based attorney, Evan L. Ginsburg, Esq.

Yazdani reaffirmed a car lease in order to retain use (and continue payments) on a $62,000 BMW X7 M50, and listed her Great Park residence, valued at $1.3 million, as exempt primary residence real estate. Based on the Bankruptcy Petition, Yazdani claimed less than $40 cumulatively held in any personal checking or savings bank accounts. She also listed income deriving primarily from hairdressing.

Although her Bankruptcy case was successful in relieving her $1.8 million dollar personal debt, presently, there is an ongoing dispute with business loan company, Kapitus Servicing, Inc. (Plaintiff). The Plaintiff sued Yazdani by way of an “adversary proceeding” within the Bankruptcy case. In Bankruptcy Court, an “adversary proceeding” is sometimes referred to as the case within the case. If successful, the Court may allow Plaintiff to proceed with collection efforts on the business loan and damages amounting to roughly $172,000. Although rare, a creditor in a bankruptcy case can initiate adversary proceedings usually based on allegations of fraud to collect on a debt which would have otherwise been discharged or uncollectable.

Based on the creditor’s court Complaint, the Plaintiff alleges that in 2020 and 2021 Yazdani submitted business loan applications with them, representing herself to be the sole owner and operator of Quality Roofing of Colorado, LLC (Company), a roofing company based in Colorado. They further allege Yazdani made other misrepresentations in the loan application to procure the loan proceeds. For instance, Plaintiff claims that within the first month payment came due, the Company defaulted. There are also allegations that Yazdani misrepresented that she was the sole owner and operator of the Company, that in 2023 she transferred 100 percent of the business to her father for $10, that she represented she had no unpaid tax obligations when, in fact, she did, and other allegedly false representations. Ultimately, the Plaintiff alleged Yazdani committed fraud, embezzlement, larceny, and misappropriation of funds. On page 14 of the Complaint, Plaintiff writes, “…Defendant’s debt to Plaintiff is one for money obtained by fraud or defalcation while acting in a fiduciary capacity or embezzlement, and is nondischargeable.” Yazdani filed an Answer to the Complaint, denying allegations of impropriety. This case is currently pending and awaiting trial…
