The Libertarian Party of California will honor long-time libertarian activists Ed and Alicia Clark at a special fund raising dinner and a reception on Saturday, September 27th. The dinner is at 5:30 p.m. at Il Fornaio Restaurant in Pasadena (limited seating by reservation only) and the reception begins at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Rick and Pam Probst in nearby Eagle Rock.
Mr. Clark, who is the Party’s most successful Presidential candidate to date, will address the audience at each event, and candidates for local offices also will speak at the fund raising reception after the dinner.
This will be a great opportunity for libertarians to meet with and demonstrate their support for their local candidates.
Clark is an honors graduate of Dartmouth College and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School. In the 1978 California Governor’s race, Clark won 377,960 votes, 5.5% of the popular vote. In 1980, he won 921,299 votes and over 1% of the total nationwide, making him the most successful Libertarian Party candidate for President yet. That was the highest number and percentage of popular votes a Libertarian party candidate has received in a presidential race so far.
These events are a rare opportunity to discuss the past and the future of the Libertarian Party of California with a past master of campaigning, and with current candidates for local public offices, too. Dinner reservations are $250 per person, $350 per couple, and admission to the reception is $35 in advance, $45 at the door. For reservations, contact Secretary Beau Cain at 877-884-1776, or e-mail him at secretary@ca.lp.org.
