[in progress, keep your pants on]
So, what the hell is all this about today? Sounds like a job for Wikipedia:
St. Valentine’s Day began as a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. Several martyrdom stories were invented for the various Valentines that belonged to February 14, and added to later martyrologies.[2] A popular hagiographical account of Saint Valentine of Rome states that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. According to legend, during his imprisonment, he healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius. An embellishment to this story states that before his execution he wrote her a letter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell.[3] Today, Saint Valentine’s Day is an official feast day in the Anglican Communion,[4] as well as in the Lutheran Church.[5] The Eastern Orthodox Church also celebrates Saint Valentine’s Day, albeit on July 6 and July 30, the former date in honor of the Roman presbyter Saint Valentine, and the latter date in honor of Hieromartyr Valentine, the Bishop of Interamna (modern Terni). In Brazil, the Dia de São Valentim is recognized on June 12.
The day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as “valentines“). In Europe, Saint Valentine’s Keys are given to lovers “as a romantic symbol and an invitation to unlock the giver’s heart”, as well as to children, in order to ward off Saint Valentine’s Malady.[6] Valentine’s Day symbols that are used today include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to mass-produced greeting cards.[7]

Talk about this that or the other, within the BROAD BOUNDS OF DECENCY. And remember, the Orange Juice Blog loves you. Go!
God Van Halen still sucks!
To me. For those who embrace the hair bands—ha ha! That ship sailed!
Sailed? It sank in port.
Come on guys, forget the hair, this was a pretty good song, maybe their only good one.
“Cuz I’ve been to the edge
And there I stood and looked down.
You know I lost a lotta friends there baby…”
Van Halen be like: Punk? What’s that?
not a hair band anymore!
I had to spend yesterday working. And yes, that included listening to a state legislator’s new talk show on one of the big right-wing stations.
Oh, and I’m now dealing with s–t that feels like it was imported directly from Anaheim. Did Curt Pringle and Kris Murray start their own “Church of Kleptocracy” that’s going nationwide?
You are badly mistaken if you think conservatism equates to Kleptocracy; similarly you are badly mistaken if you think the Kleptocracy is Democrat free.
In Anaheim consider exhibits A & B: the personages of Jordan Brandman and Lou Correa.
Farther south you will meet Miguel Pulido and Larry Agran.
However, I will concede that Republicans seem to be chanting the “public/private partnership” mantra most – especially when their contributors stand to make big bucks – like Poseidon.
I didn’t say that, David. And I certainly didn’t mean that.
If you really want to know, here’s a sample:

Both matters are discussed, but they’re (mostly) separate. And here is where we get more into the kleptocracy:

Actually just like Anaheim and other parts of OC, there’s a bipartisan “klepto” network in Nevada. If you want, we can talk more about that later. Basically, it’s not just happening in Anaheim.
“Basically, it’s not just happening in Anaheim.”
Of that I have no doubt.
Can you be more specific?
watching television late last night, they ran an ad for something called something like “black people date black people dot com” if i started a white people date white people dot com web site, i would be called a racist. so why isnt that racist
Because white people are the dominant group. It doesn’t mean that people of color can’t be racist, but, seriously, who would care? Who would be threatened by racist black people in America? The Koch Bros,? AT&T?
I guess the folks at “Fox News”. How often do they air “EXCLUSIVE REPORTS!!!” on the “New Black Panthers”? Are there even 100 of them?
White people in the U.S. don’t have much problem locating other white people. If someone were in China, and seeking to date other white people, that website would be fine. It’s the difference between including people (“I want to find others who share my background”) and excluding people (“I don’t want to find others who don’t share my background.”) When the majority does the latter, it can become a problem. If we’re talking religion or some other voluntary association, I don’t find it offensive; if we’re talking a fixed trait like race or ethnicity, I think that it is, at a minimum, sad.
Maybe some black folks in Maine, Vermont or Alaska might like to hook up, right?
You and skallywag need to get together for cocktails. You might learn something – he’s taken “they need to act like me” routine worldwide.
Palestino, the soccer club that it is like Palestines’ 2nd national team , advanced to the second leg of the Copa Libertadores. The video below was shot in Jerusalem, the words are Arabic, the captions in Spanish, but the images of the people, of the places and the music is worth watching.(Just be patient with the first few minutes of goooool…)
The Obama administration says that these guys in black just need gainful employment and they will stop killing Christians.

The spokeshole didn’t say that they “just” need gainful employment. That’s YOUR cynical spin.
“”We need … to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs, whether –”
Causes. See the plural? See the host interrupting before the spokeshole can elaborate?
All that aside, you would have a problem with rising employment among Muslims as ONE way of bringing those countries into modernity because…???
That would be a fucking waste of time, energy and money.
According to you.
Fracking is apparently great for property values…unless, of course, you’re an oil baron.

Panicked Biden Interrupts State Of The Union To Ask If Erections Can Ever Be Medical Emergency
WASHINGTON—Claiming that he had a “huge honking woody that just won’t quit,” Vice President Joe Biden interrupted President Barack Obama during the State of the Union tonight, asking the commander-in-chief in a frightened voice if erections exceeding three days required emergency medical attention. “Hey, Barry, sorry to interrupt your speech, man—but is 72 hours too long for a raging boner?” said the perspiring, agitated Biden, nervously motioning to the erection. “I wasn’t complaining for the first 36 hours—and neither was she-—but this monster is gonna rip my pants at the seams. It hurts, bud. I’m in pecker purgatory over here. Should we call somebody?”At press time, Biden told Speaker of the House John Boehner that he needed to “get his bronco some shut-eye” so it could be “rodeo-ready” by the time “[wife] Jill gets home from the gym tomorrow.”

Adam broke the story in the VOC. A follow up on the trip of three OC GOP members sponsored by two conservative groups. One of these groups is considered a “hate group” by a civil rights organization:
http://www.dailypilot.com/news/tn-dpt-me-0218-righeimer-israel-20150217%2c0%2c5619968.story?page=1
“One of these groups is considered a “hate group” by a civil rights organization:”
That would be the joke of an organization called the Southern Poverty Law Center which sees a boogie man behind every white guy.
Behind EVERY white guy?
No, just behind every white guy that has a proven history of propagating racist or hate speech and acts.
You really have a thing for misrepresenting reality, don’t you?
SPLC IS a joke!
“The Montgomery-based Southern Poverty Law Center found itself backpedaling this week after it was discovered it had named Dr. Ben Carson to its “extremist list,” putting the name of the conservative favorite alongside hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and Westboro Baptist Church.”
http://www.al.com/opinion/index.ssf/2015/02/ben_carson_removed_from_southe.html
And they posted the error and issued an apology to Carson on their homepage.
Something some of the “news” sources you follow could learn how to do.
It wasn’t an “error” – they did it intentionally – then back-peddled on it.
Of course they did. Then they intentionally concluded they were in error.
They correctly concluded that they were fucked in the head with the first instance.
Speaking of fucked in the head…
Hey! Get a terrorist cell, you two!
