For those of you that live in South Orange County there are alternatives to voting for the “lesser of two evils,” you can vote Libertarian! Here are your candidates in South OC that would be honored to have your vote.
Andy Favor is running for State Assembly in the 73rd Assembly District again this year. Andy is looking to improve on the 26% he received in 2006 when he ran against Mimi Walters. Andy is a CPA that understands the unfavorable climate in California for both business and property owners. Andy is running against Republican Diane Harkey and Democrat Judy Jones.

Don Patterson is running for US Congress in the 48th District. He is running against John Campbell and Steve Young. John Campbell is one of the three members of Congress representing Orange County that voted yes on the 700 billion dollar Wall Street Bailout. Ken Calvert and Gary Miller were the other two. A great way to send a message that you disagree with the bailout would be to vote against Congressman Campbell. Libertarian Candidate Don Patterson opposed the bailout. Patterson is endorsed by fellow South County resident and fellow Penn State alum, the 1973 Heisman Trophy winner John Cappelletti.

The voters of South Orange County would be lucky to have either of these fine candidates representing them in either the State Assembly or US Congress.

Andy Favor is a really nice guy who used to comment here a lot; he’s probably too busy with his campaign but we hope to see him again soon!
No way I’m letting him get his privatizing hands on my social security though! 😛
Hey Vern,
Do you really believe you are going to get any Social Security the way we’re going?
Actually yes, Luchador, believe it or not. Don’t listen to all the rightwing propaganda from folks who want to invest it in the STOCK MARKET. Aren’t you glad we didn’t let Bush do that three years ago?
SS will be good for me (in twenty years) at the rate we’re going. And with a few minor adjustments (raising the cap on higher earners) it will be good for you too in forty years!
Thank you for posting this! I know I have been absent from posting for far too long. I have been focusing on work and will visit more often.
Best regards to all!
Andy
Privatizing Social Security was one of the big reasons that I supported Bush in 2000.
I will take the Stock Market over a pyramid scheme any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I do not trust Social Security although with a few minor adjustments I’m sure it will be slightly less marginal than it’s going to be in 20 to 40 years.
I don’t understand why you put emphasis on the Stock Market. Are you saying that the Stock Market will never go up again? That this is the best that it will ever do? The Dow Jones will never be over 10,000 again? This is it, the end of life as we know it? Seriously what is with the emphasis? Should I stop buying stock and put my cash under my mattress?
The Stock Market will go down sometimes it’s called capitalism. The Stock Market survived Black Tuesday in 1929 and Black Monday in 1987. The crash we had this year doesn’t even get a Black day of the week distinction.
I’m not saying that investing in the Stock Market is the perfect scenario but I think they should give people a choice. They should let us opt out of Social Security if we want to.
Seriously though, Vern why did you say the STOCK MARKET?
In any event have a great day tomorrow. You and your party have earned it.
