cross-posted from the Friends For Fullerton’s Future blog, penned by “Mr. Peabody”…
Most people, after having been nabbed committing trespass and theft, would at least lay low for a respectable period of time.
But Paulette Marshall Chaffee, the former carpetbagging sign thief who quit the Fullerton City Council race less than a year ago, is not respectable. She has decided to run for the Orange County Board of Education, a fairly obscure and almost totally opaque local agency.
One of our attentive Friends actually received a push poll promoting this miscreant. Just in case you don’t know a push poll is one of those phony calls that ask questions like: “if you knew Paulette Marshall invented a cure for cancer would you be more or less likely to vote for her?”

Whoops, busted again!
Well, I have a question of my own: what in the world are this woman’s qualifications? She can’t even steal campaign signs without getting busted.
Paulette and her doddering husband Doug “Bud” Chaffee have a long history of arrogance and indifference to the people of Fullerton, and so this move shouldn’t be too surprising.
And neither should it be surprising that we, the good folks at FFFF, will be conducting our own push-poll outreach: If you knew Paulette Marshall Chaffee plead guilty to theft would you be more or less likely to vote for her?
Good God. No shame. None at all. Just go away, lady.
Jordan Brandman is running and for some god-forsaken reason, the teacher’s unions are backing him up.
Okay, a bunch of us have been confused about this race. The OCBOE has five districts, THREE of which are up for election in 2020.
DISTRICT 1, Central OC (Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, parts of Garden Grove and Tustin) is simplest – represented by Becky Gomez who beat crazed Robert Hammond in 2016, we hope Becky gets re-elected.
DISTRICT 3, serving Brea, Foothill Ranch, Irvine, Orange, Villa Park, Portola Hills, Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills, and parts of Lake Forest and Tustin, is represented by nutjob Ken Williams, and we hope ANDY THORBURN beats him!
And THIS story refers to DISTRICT 4, serving Buena Park, Fullerton, La Habra, Placentia, and the flatlands of Anaheim. Moderate JACK BEDELL is the incumbent, and I’m still trying to find out if he’s running for re-election, I’d support him if he is. So far I know there’s three completely unacceptable Democrats running for the seat – Jordan Brandman, Paulette Chaffee, and Vicki Calhoun; as well as La Habra Republican Tim Shaw, who while an honest cpnservative and a nice guy, is a charter school enthusiast that I wouldn’t support for a school board.
Still, I’ll let everyone know when I hear back from Bedell if he’s running again. (Or does someone out there know?)
Here’s the story I wrote in 2016 about this Board. Forgot almost all of this. Talk about “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” – I learn A LOT from reading my old pieces:
http://www.orangejuiceblog.com/2016/06/most-important-oc-votes-pt-2-gomez-parham-for-oc-board-of-ed-and-a-talk-with-norby/
Bedell is a worthless, million year-old Ackerman tool.
The End.
I know that a whole lot of Dems have supported him for CBOE — including, if It not mistaken, one who voted to remove me for supporting Spitzer.
So if you don’t want Bedell, and you don’t want Paulette, and you don’t (I presume) want Brandman, who *do* you want for this seat?
I would guess, if David is not as alarmed by the proliferation and greed of charter schools as we are, he would choose Tim Shaw.
“Proliferation and greed of charter schools . . . ”
Puh-lease.
I remember Bedell from 1992 when he was running for Fullerton City Council under the aegis of the rancid Dick Ackerman.
He seemed like an empty old hack back then. I can’t imagine he’s gotten any younger in the intervening 27 years.
