Santa Ana’s TKO Boxing Club is having an open house today from 12 noon to 4 pm. Come by and support these young men who have found success as athletes – and a way off the streets. Details are shown in the graphic above.

On the corner of 4th St. and Garfield in Santa Ana stands the Santa Ana Boxing Club, a place rich in history and full of heart. The gym is located between two known gangs, next to a bar and in a poor part of Santa Ana. It is located in the empowerment zone area of the city.
Back in the 70s, John Ramirez Sr. opened the gym. It was considered a safe haven for the young people in this low-income neighborhood. John Ramirez, Sr. had a way with the youth and when they entered the gym it was neutral ground. For years the City of Santa Ana has supported the gym with Community Development Block Grants.
The TKO Boxing Club is made up of alot of very amazing trainers, sponsors, volunteers, & supportive families. My sister has now been part of your boxing club for a little over 4 months, & I’ve never seen her dedicate herself to anything like she does with boxing. She has not missed a day since she first started, I constantly stay with her & watch her while she is training to be as supportive as possible. We went to both your open house & todays Christmas Party. All of the wonderful people that hold this club together & make it what it is are a blessing to all those kids & give them something to look forward to. Thank all of you guys & Im going to keep attending Luis Ramos & Ronnie Rios fights for as long as I am able to. You guys rock!

Do you guys have an email list where you send out upcoming announcements and events? If so, could you post it here? If not, could you possibly stop by from time to time and let us all know whats going on at the TKO club? I’ve been by there several times at night and it always looks busy and seems like a great place for people to meet up and practice the sport.
