Can it be possible? Has a brave blogger finally emerged over at the Red-faced County blog? A fellow named Mark Patlan absolutely went off on the GOP in his latest post, entitled “The Audacity of Hopelessness.” Predictably, Red-faced County editor Matt “Jubal” Cunningham smacked him down right away. Let’s see how long Patlan is allowed to blog over there now that he is asking their readers to quit the Republican Party!
Patlan is “an Orange County businessman, attorney, and former GOP Candidate for California State Assembly. He is a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Legal Officer (CLO), and a former Vice President of Global Services for a publicly traded enterprise software firm,” according to his website, which is his own blog that he calls “Rogue Elephant.”
Here are a few excerpts from Patlan’s post:
Conservatives have no hope left in the Republican party. Sure, Republican lawmakers will make quixotic promises to outlaw abortion or denounce gay marriage. But, Republican lawmakers are more interested in looking out for themselves, than in looking out for taxpayers. Indeed, they appear more interested in pleasing their Democrat masters, than in caring about we who toil in the in the fields, to feed the hungry maw of government and the public sector unions.
It is time for conservatives to leave the party. Loyalty is no personality fault. But, loyalty to a feckless ally is disloyalty to oneself. Conservatives must be true to their principles, and that requires abandoning loyalty to the Republican party. This latest Republican betrayal at a time of economic crisis represents the ultimate breach of faith with conservatives (indeed, with taxpayers). Every conservative should change their party registration to independent (Decline to State) – make the GOP earn your vote, each and every time.
tax-revolt-2009Taxpayers’ only hope lies in tax revolt. The Republican betrayal is only more proof that we cannot depend on politicians to protect us any longer. The political system has been overcome by the parasitic infection of the public sector unions and the special interests who feed at the trough of government. Tax revolt is our only option: create and pass a Constitutional amendments that (a) protect income and sales taxes the same way that Proposition 13 protects property taxes, (b) limit spending to inflation and population growth, and (c) create a part-time legislature.
Expect no help from the useless Republican party Taxpayers must reform California ourselves. We must rely on nothing that comes from Sacramento politicians, and trust nothing that comes from Sacramento politicians. We must not ask ourselves, “Where is Howard Jarvis now that we need him?” For the answer to that question, we must each look in the mirror.
UPDATE:
Patlan has responded to Jubal’s smackdown: “Jubal, Respectfully, I put conservatism above party loyalty. We conservatives were silent too long, while Bush dismantled the party, leaving us in the state we are today. Now, the California leadership has brokered a deal trading tax hikes for nothing. Every conservative true to their principles should be howling for their resignations. When I ran, I took the “No New Taxes” pledge, and if elected, would be loudly calling for such resignations. The silence of the Republican party speaks volumes.”
This Conservatyive is RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!. More taxes, higher taxes are part of DeMOCRATS PHILOSOPHY, that is why we have the counter party, but looks that is not the way anymore!!!.
Is time for a Big and Strong THIRD party!!!.
I ♥ Mark Patlan for taking a stand against the fringe elements of the GOP that currently control things. I would suggest that he stay and fight it out, but to tell the truth, I think the GOP is beyond repair.
The reasonable Republicans like Crist, Snowe,Specter, Collins are under constant attack from what’s left over from the Bush era group. They deserve praise for standing up to GOP thuggery.
