Does GOP hack Adam Probolsky really need a concealed weapon?
“Those who have received notices of revocation from Sheriff Sandra Hutchens include Michael Schroeder, chief political and legal advisor to Carona and a former chairman of the state Republican Party; Adam Probolsky, a GOP pollster; and Stephen Mensinger, a political ally of Carona and business executive for major GOP benefactor and developer George Argyros, public records show,” according to the L.A. Times.
Why in the world does Probolsky need a concealead weapon permit?
“Probolsky said he has not responded to the department’s letters. He said he has had his permit since 2002 and needs it because he worked as a volunteer reserve for the department. ”
Lame. He WORKED as a reserve but he certainly is no reserve now! What a joke!
I support the rights of those who have a legimate reason to be packing heat…but GOP hacks don’t have a right to do so just because they are self-important.
Probolsky is, by the way, an adviser to both Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido and Orange County Supervisor Janet Nguyen. I wonder if they asked for his input when Nguyen recently gave Pulido $200K to build a clay tennis court? Birds of a feather this bunch!
And check out Probolsky’s arrogant response to Hutchens, “I don’t think that it’s productive to respond to the sheriff at all,” he said. “So I’m just going to ignore it.”
What an arrogant S.O.B.! I hope Hutchens sends her deputies to arrest Probolsky. Perhaps he will offer a response then…
By the way, if you check out Probolsky’s website, you will find this little piggy has been living high off the public hog for some time, to wit:
Mr. Probolsky is a past Planning Commissioner and a past Finance Commissioner for the City of Irvine. As Planning Commissioner, he held decision making authority over billions of dollars in development, transportation and infrastructure projects.
As a past chairman of the Irvine Valley College Foundation, Mr. Probolsky has overseen fund raising and the award of hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to students.
Mr. Probolsky serves on the County of Orange Waste Management Commission, where he oversees landfills, recycling programs and waste hauling companies. As a member of the Orange County Transportation Authority’s Environmental Mitigation and Oversight Committee, Mr. Probolsky oversees the expenditure of over $200 million in public transportation funds. Also, Mr. Probolsky is a past volunteer spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
“As Planning Commissioner, he held decision making authority over billions of dollars in development, transportation and infrastructure projects.”
What a pack of, er, lies. As a rule planning commissions don’t even review transportation and infrastructure projects. And if they do it’s in a purely advisory capacity including CEQA certification advice to the City Council. This fellow certainly has a self-inflated sense of self – which is probably why he thinks he needs a concealed gun.
I wonder who’s buying into this baloney.
I’ve gotta say, though, the thought of this guy and Jon Fleischman on patrol is pretty funny.
So let m gt thihs trigh..Mike Schroeder gets his CC taken away. But Probalski can just ignore the letters and sufer no consequences? Also, has anyone ever utteed the phrase Conflict of Interst” in any of Probalskis activities in any of these commssions hes on? Doesnt he make money from having the same people that he holds sway over on these commssions as his clients?
One last point, when the hell did the OCSD drop the fitness equiremnts for deputies to allow this land whale to serve as a deputy. Reserve or not.
I’m a liberal Dem, and this is one of my biggest problems with my party. I think the 2nd Amendment is pretty clear on the matter. If I weren’t already going to be allowed to carry a concealed weapon because I’m about to be a law enforcement officer, I would throw a shitfit for a permit. This world is dangerous enough as it is without having the ability to protect yourself, and the people you love. Art you have kids and you live in Santa Ana, you like to highlight the crime your city’s afflicted with, I’d be surprised if you didn’t have a firearm or baseball bat available at a moments notice.
Steve,
If everyone in Santa Ana was carrying guns, I can only imagine how many shootings we would have – on top of all the shootings we already have.
I think a lot of folks have a good reason to apply for a concealed weapon permit, but we should not hand those out like candy. Serious thought should go into this process.
Are we really serving public safety by putting concealed weapons on GOP hacks like Fleischman and Probolsky, not to mention Schroeder?
I really like Sheriff Hutchens, and unless a extremely awesome Dem steps up, I plan on getting campaigning in Anaheim for her. But I don’t like her revocation of ccw’s. I understand what she’s doing politically, and perhaps she has to do it to get out from under corona’s cloud. But I think politicos deserve permits, especially ones that draw the ire of opposing parties if they have a reasonable belief that their safety is in danger. A threat of violence, or a death threat should do it. Politicians should get them. If someone has a reasonable belief that they can be a target of violence, they should get them.
*”Electeds, Politicos, Jewelry Store Owners,
Farmers or even Housekeepers that
have to go to work at 3 in the morning…..
The need for a CCW is only at question when you
apply for one. From that point on….unless you
screw up blatantly…..you should be able to
keep it. So, what did Adam do to “screw the
pooch” again? What? Did he refuse to pay his
renewal fee?
Adam Probolsky and any other law abiding citizen should have the right to carry a weapon so long as he/she gets a permit and is willing to stay up to date on training etc. I couldnt agree more with the Winships. What the hell has Probolsky done wrong to have his valid permit revoked?
We all know that Corona is a jackass but law abiding citizens can only apply to the sheriff they have at the time. Leave citizens alone madam Sheriff!
Art, reset that Libertarian compass that I enjoy so much and rethink this one. Its a freedom issue, not about Probolsky or any other individual.
#7,
I think it is reasonable to ask why folks want a CCW. Hacks like Probolsky don’t have a good reason to be packing heat. I think most folks would agree with that.
What got Hutchens in trouble was that she went after ALL the folks who had CCWs. That was too much. Many of them no doubt have good reasons to carry weapons.
In the meantime she is ignoring the problems in our county jail and she is not getting much accomplished. So I think this will all resolve itself and she will get booted by the voters…
Art,
Easy to get sidetracked here but just consider that freedom lovers of all shapes and sizes could be concerned if a LAW ABIDING citizen has to explain to his/her government why he/she needs a CW permit. If any citizen feels he/she is in need of a CW permit and they are willing to undergo background checks, training in safety, use etc., why the hell would they owe the government an explanation?
Rob, you’re assuming Art cares about Libertaraian or any other kind of of principles. He doesn’t. He cares about personalities. That’s why he doesn’t see a Second Amendment issue, but sees a chance to rip someone he doesn’t like.
Now he’s back-pedaling now that some of his blog buddies like you disagree with him.
Like I said on another post: the Juice needs more posts from people like Sean Mill, or Vern or Claudio (yeah, i know, he left. Wonder why?). Art’s schtick is getting super old. You used to be normal, Art. Over the top sometimes, but normal. What happened?
*This whole argument can be answered quite
simply: “The Luck of the Draw!” they say
im poker!
Years back their was one Sheriff up in Yuba
County or there abouts….that would give a
blind 90 year old grandmother a CCW. The
Sheriff in Santa Cruz was so upset he backed
CA legislation to ban all CCW’s and then promptly
retired after that failed and went to work full
time for Handgun Control.
The concept should be this: Whoever your
predecessor Sheriff was that issued licenses –
all licenses should be respected, cronyized or
not, unless they are illegal or regulatory
breaks from the law. Being that NOT the
case….our Madam Sheriff has strayed off
onto the wrong policy track. But then, that
is just our opinion….of course!
Why does Probolsky need a concealed weapon permit? He needs it in case you try to steal his food!
Probolsky
A Reep politico thatat the same time pointing out the corrupting culture of some of dems commits the same offense.
This guy is much like many of the other politico from the right in it for the fame, connections, and money.
As long as these guys, Fliesmen Scrotum, “Poorboy”sky are the ones annoited to watch over the elected reeps are party will continue to head down.
