I have to admit, it was little more than two weeks ago when I wrote these words: “You who hold that Obama is beloved are now in the minority where you always were. The time has merely come where enough Americans have removed their noggins from their posteriors and are paying attention to politics that they see what a mess has been made. And they will not be happy.” And I honestly thought it would be after the first of the year, when the economy had continued to sag because of the damage wrought by this administration, and more people were actually owning up to the reality that this Presidency owns the economic plight it created. But NO! The American people have shown themselves to be involved and attentive. They know a mistake when they see it. You cannot spend money to avert bankruptcy.
Now I’m going to say it. You who still cling to the delusion of your annointed one as a “rock star” LOL. If you’re in a crowded room, less than half the people agree with you. So sheeple, how does that make you feel? Your brilliant star has shattered the economy, played up to race, apologized for the greatest country in the world and apparently cant get dressed without tying his own shoelaces together. No matter what you say, BHO would love to have Bush’s or (giggle) Carters numbers at the same point in their Presidency. Hey! That gives the lefties something to aspire to! Carters numbers! Go Obama Go!
From Rasmussen (the most reliable election night 2008 pollster)
Overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Today marks the first time his overall approval rating has ever fallen below 50% among Likely Voters nationwide. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove. Eighty-three percent (83%) of Democrats continue to approve of the President’s performance while 80% of Republicans disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 37% offer a positive assessment. The President earns approval from 51% of women and 47% of men.
It is important to remember that the Rasmussen Reports job approval ratings are based upon a sample of likely voters. Some other firms base their approval ratings on samples of all adults. President Obama’s numbers are always several points higher in a poll of adults rather than likely voters. That’s because some of the President’s most enthusiastic supporters, such as young adults, are less likely to turn out to vote.
In a side note, Barbara Boxer clings to a four point lead in her re-election bid.
Other fun facts:
Fifty-three percent (53%) now oppose the Congressional health care reform package. That’s up eight points over the past month. Just 20% now see health care as the most important of the President’s priorities. Nearly twice as many, 37%, say deficit reduction is most important.
Fifty-five percent (55%) of California voters oppose the budget agreement reached by the state’s political leaders. Sixty-four percent (64%) believe that illegal immigrants create a major strain on the state’s budget.
Nationwide, 72% don’t want the federal government determining what type of light bulbs they should purchase.
Forty-six percent (46%) say that network television news is more reliable than the internet. Thirty-five percent (35%) disagree.
Thirty-one percent (31%) now say the U.S. is heading in the right direction. That’s down nine points from the 2009 peak. Republicans continue to enjoy a slight edge on the Generic Congressional Ballot.
This is no surprise. The economy is still a mess. And Obama has yet to get us out of Iraq. Nor has he come through for advocates of gay marriage.
But c’mon, he has only been in office six months.
I doubt he will ever get as low as Bush.
Well, the hypocrisy of gay marriage would only make him more unpopular. Thats like hoping he’s going to push for amnesty.
Six months is about all he had. After the fall recess, house members and 1/3 of the Senate is going to start lining up for their re-election.
Good luck with any more progressive garbage after that, unless its agreeable with Republican progressive nonsense. In which case, we’re all screwed anyway.
“You who hold that Obama is beloved…”
What the hell does that even mean? Beloved?
If you look hard enough, Mr. Crowley, you’ll find plenty of folks in the Democratic base who are more than willing to call President Obama out on his prevarications, especially in the realm of national security.
But do we admire and respect him more than Dubya? HELL YEAH!
Art,
You are 100% right again! There is no way Obama will ever get as low as Bush because my guess is that he won’t be President after January of 2013 so he won’t have time to let his numbers dip that low.
Now that Obama is looking to be the new Jimmy Carter, who is looking to be the new Ronald Reagan?
