Let’s count the reasons why Michael Vick will play for the Canadian Football League rather than play in the NFL in 2009. It starts something like this: Roger Goodell who is the Commissioner of the National Football League today granted “conditional reinstatement: to the Dogfighting Producer Michael Vick”. Vick served upwards of a two year sentence in Federal Prison…..and now is ready to “play ball” again. Theoretically for “millions and millions of dollars”.
Michael Vick is not wanted at his previous employer the Atlanta Falcons. Now the choice of Vick to be added to any NFL Roster will be based on “pure greed” and certainly without any decorum by the chosen team, their coach or the team members currently assembled. That team will be cast with a pale and humiliating brush. “Oh, the team with the Dog Killer on it!” What we find difficult to understand is why Vick is being restricted from playing, even if signed, for the first six weeks of the season.
Michael Vick and his brilliant agent and PR Firms he employs need to get the message: “An easy re-entry into Pro Football….will not be forthcoming for Michael Vick!” They need to think out of the box….they need to think money….endorsements……..fans…….and winning. That all could happen in the Canadian Football League.
Every one of these teams would love have Michael Vick. Every one of these teams would be willing to pay big money to Michael Vick. If Montreal picked Vick…..they have the most beautiful strippers in North America……how could he resist. If Saskatchewan got Vick……he could find some of the most remarkable canine forms on the planet.
Figure it this way, two more years in Canada and then Michael can come home a big hero…..two time winner of the Grey Cup…..two time MVP and bring more people to Canadian Football games and television than ever before!
Having Michael Vick play initially in the NFL is unsustainable. Michael will play one year and be pushed into drugs or worse. He need not expose himself or any prospective teammates to the booing and ridicule that will be forthcoming. The pain will not be worth it. In the United States, he will not get endorsements….in Canada he will. In the United States, he will be laid to the rack…..in Canada…he will not. We will Mr. Vick the best. There is little doubt that his physical talents are great…..but his character has sadly been cast in doubt. Redemption will come when Michael Vick refuses to fall prey to the easy road. Michael Vick has to show that he is willing to pay for the sins of others in addition to those of himself. We wish him every luck!
Speaking as a Detroit Lions fan, I say sign him up now. If he throws the ball to our own players at least once in a while and gives us some chance to win a game or two we won’t boo him. Seriously. We’re not like that. To be a Detroit Lions fan is to live a lifetime of heartbreak, and you need a massive capacity for forgiveness.
He’s out of jail. He’s sorry. It’s over. Start sewing his name on the Honolulu Blue of a Lions jersey.

Ron & Anna, Great video. I’d never watched Vick play. He looks to be a throwback old-school tough-guy QB, like Joe Kapp – my all time favorite QB, who’d run the ball himself as much as he’d throw it. [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiVlcjWBj00 ] I hope he gets back to the NFL.
*In the words of Mean Joe Greene: “The quarterback I hate most is Fran Tarkenton and we got that son-of-a-buck!”
“Running quarterbacks” are not well received in the NFL. “Will run….quarterbacks” on the other hand are exciting…..John Elway, Steve Young and that level were awesom…..but again…they were principly “Passers First”. “Pure Pocket Passers” are terribly boring as well. Watching all your receivers being covered and throwing the ball away…is like watching grass grow. No, Vick is too traditionally a Great College Running Quarterback………that never makes the crucial third of fourth down play……and has a tough time winning the big games! He really needs to go to Canada for two years before he comes back to the NFL.
*SAHS,
Oh, by the way…the Maestro: Arturo is responsible for the video…..

Mike Vick will not play in the CFL because of with a criminal record like his, Canada won’t give him a workers permit to be in the country.
The way Calvillo is playing, I wouldn’t want Vick if I were operating the Montreal head office.
