You need to tip your hat to “candidate” Barack Obama and his well oiled team. Let’s acknowledge that they did a remarkable job in knocking out every competitor in the Democratic primary including high profile Senator Hillary R. Clinton.
So now we see the difference between rock star candidate Obama Vs president Obama in action. As the president is finding out there is a vast difference between campaign rhetoric and governing 300 million people.
Back in late Jan his favorable approval numbers, as president, reported by pollster Gallup, was off the chart at around 68%. In that same poll they also reported his unfavorable numbers at around 12%, not even a noise level. However, as America starts to question his agenda and our frustration with the sad state of our economy, we see a decline in his favorable numbers to 57%. However, that’s not the key indicator to watch. His percentage of disapproval has taken off like a rocket ship to Mars climbing from 12% in January to 36% in July.
That’s a 300 percent increase in only six months. His Universal Health care proposal is seeing opposition from within his own party. I won’t reference this as his Waterloo as that expression is being overworked. The “H” word “hope” has been exposed as “hype.”
Let me caution readers not to let your guard down thinking that he is walking away from this unfinished business. Let Congress know that you oppose his remaining Agenda items. Remember that House Members must run to be reelected every two years. For now the president is safe for another three and a half years but they are vulnerable to voter backlash back home next November.
OK Juice drinkers. Where do you believe Gallup will report president Obama’s favorable and/or unfavorable numbers next Jan?
Has the worst days of Barack Obama serving as president been behind him?
A year from now, we’ll see bumper stickers on almost every car, “Don’t blame me, I voted for John McCain.”
I won’t guess on the numbers for January except to say they’ll be the worst in history.
There is a tremendous amount of good will for our intelligent and thoughtful President in the country.
If you think light weights like Bush II and Palin should be running the country you ought to have your heads examined. 8 years of Bush got us in this mess and the fact that you are ready to throw out Obama after six months does not speak well of your intelligence.
8 years from now if nobama is still office .GOD HELP US . they will still find it . ITS BUSHS FAULT . THAT WE HAVE 15% UNEMPLOYMENT . its bushs fault he have a 9 trillion deficit , its bushs fault that we are b/k . the driver ran the the red light ITS BUSHS FAULT ””’
Presidents with very little personality to begin with: Harding, Coolidge, Truman, Eisenhower, Johnson, Ford, Bush #1.
Presidents who started out popular and then public opinion turned south in a big way: Wilson, Hoover, Nixon, Carter, Clinton, Bush #2.
Presidents with major personality who stayed popular no matter what: Roosevelt, Kennedy, Reagan.
Its too soon to say if Obama will be in the second group or the third group. The overall historical trend since the Industrial Revolution is for our living standard to continuously improve because of medical and technological breakthroughs that that continues no matter how bad our leaders and government perform. Our tendency as a people is to constantly heal and improve, and Obama could wind up standing in front of that parade, taking credit, and continuing a heroic profile. He’s good at it.
How savvy was he when he mended fences with Clinton by making her Secretary of State? How cool was he with the most recent round of speeches overseas? How clever was he with the “beer summit” to do damage control over his anti-cop slur? How does he manage the free pass from the anti-war left when he’s fighting the same wars as Bush? Don’t underestimate his ability on the personality/popularity front.
yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, president Obama is very good at “apologizing” for America in foreign countries, yet he failed to apologize for engaging in “ready, fire, aim” when it related to one of his friends as he acknowledged not having verified the story before placing foot in mouth.
Do we or did we have a president Palin? I checked Google and couldn’t find any reference to her ever serving in that capacity.
Stay on point if you wish to engage in the debate
