In my prior report on Congressman Gary Miller’s Town Hall meetings that I covered I failed to mention a remark from the congressman that was repeated by RUSH on the radio this morning.
We all recall the president pressing members of congress for passage of H.R. 3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 prior to the Aug 2009 recess. What was the urgency?
The big question relates to timing. What was the urgency in pressuring members of congress to “fast track” passage of this 1000 page Bill? Members of congress did not have the luxury to thoroughly read and challenge the text when the bill, if passed, would not go into effect until Jan 12, 2013?
Clever. It’s OK to begin cutting $500 billion out of Medicare starting in 2010 but hold off on implementation of the universal health care plan until after the Nov 2012 Presidential election. That approach my fellow readers comes under the political science class covering “political strategy and tactics 101”.
This intentional implementation delay precludes the public and private sector from experiencing the true impact of this ambitious insurance concept that would seriously impact president Obama’s chances for a second term.
We should play a game of chicken and have the stuff go in effect in 2011. Tell the Democratic Party we will not accept a bill that does not go in effect immediately.
Who is this RUSH person? 🙂
Over but not out.
Tell me your joking.
Rush Limbaugh, Conservative personality whose weekly radio listening audience is around 13.5 million people
Matt from CA.
Not a bad idea. Some will say that he only wanted to get it off his plate so that he could focus on foreign issues including winning the hearts and minds of the Afghan’s as he dodges a key decision.
Support the military request for more troops or bring the men home after their brothers and sisters died in battle.
We are not fighting a conventional war and may be perceived as engaging in nation building. There is no easy solution to this expanded war effort.
Any plan affecting 12 % of the ecomony should not be implemented over just 1 year or less. Spacing it out gives time to deal with problems as it is implemented.
Even as I support some major reform for health insurance I am under no illusion that as changes are made, there will be unexpected things that come up that will have to be addressed so spacing out the reforms over a period of time seems to make sence to me.
Jim. did you say spacing? So we will see the beginning of the $500 billion dollar reduction in Medicare beginning in 2010 while none of the alleged 25 to 40 million uninsured with be covered until Jan 2013?
And yes thet do have coverage. Simply go to any emergency room in your local hospital TODAY and you will find people seeking treatment for injuries or illnesses who lack health care coverage.
Spacing is to provide minimum protection for what we did in the 40’s called “duck and cover.”
I agree with Larry on this one. That 2013 date is pathetic, outright ridiculous. I’m disappointed with Obama.
However Larry, your point would have been much better made, had you not mention that Ahole Rush Limbaugh. You lose credibility as soon as his name is mentioned.
#3: 15 Million plus the three little boys in the Dominican who could’nt hear him cause they were drugged!
They want to jamb it in before people get a chance to read it.
Lam.
Thank you for your comment.
As to RUSH. While I do not tune him in very often he did make the same point as my congressman as we drove away from the golf course.
Generally my radio is set at 790 AM KABC
In order to see the full picture we should tune in to hear both sides. That explains why I still watch CNN and MSNBC. Painful. Yes
duplojohn.
As stated above I am not a frequent listener of RUSH. However, president Obama and his staff surely are.
