I imagine there are a lot of you leftist carpet chewers out there who are just consternated. How can there be so many un-Americans out there? You breathlessly proclaim “Obama won the Nobel Prize!” and the yawning response from normal Obama supporters is “What for?” They can’t understand that it’s all about feeling good. Can these people not understand that when Barack Obama feels good, YOU feel good? You want affordable health insurance policies AND you want comprehensive coverage. What is it with these un-Americans who think there is some conflict between what you pay for and what you get? Why can’t they just go along and have it all?
Well, that would be because most people understand that there is all the difference in the world between what is good for Obama and what is good for America. Take the Olympic games. Good chance for Obama to look good? You bet! Good for slimy Chicago politics? You bet! Good for lining the pockets of supporters like Valerie Jarrett who turns good apartments into slums so they can be torn down to make way for an Olympic village? You bet! Bad for America? You bet!
What was really alarming was the demonstrated belief by Barack Obama that there is no problem that will not melt before the sunshine of his charm. The President and First Lady went to Copenhagen and gave speeches – about themselves. The First Lady used the first person singular pronoun I or Me 34 times in 16 paragraphs. The President used it 23 times in 13 paragraphs. It was all about them. They made it about them. An adjective sooner or later attaches to every President. Honest Abe. Tricky Dick. This President is going to earn “Vain”.
If George W Bush had gone to Copenhagen on behalf of Houston, and pushed for the Olympics, the opobrium directed at him by state run media would have been deafening. And rightly so. But then, few other leaders who have been so arrogant as to make the Olympics about “THEM”.
But back to the Olympics…
How about all the jobs created?
Like building the 25000 seat handball court in London for 2012, when most British dont even know what handball is? That winning the games means a gold rush of jobs and hiring the vast armies of unemployed, is a myth. Most of the jobs are filled by specialists who come in from outside. And they take their pay home with them.
How about all the pride it will bring to the city?
Most locals leave the city during the Olympics, because life becomes almost intolerable. Its impossible to get any city help, or get anything fixed because they’re all getting rich at the Olympic Village. Remember the games in LA anyone, anyone? There hasn’t been a positive legacy left by the sporting events in the post-war era. Bad for America? You bet!
What about all the money that will be made?
The Olympic games are money losers. The Winter Olympics in Turin lost money, and the economy slowed. The 2012 Olympic games in London have already cost 4 times their original estimate, and the games are more than two years away. The Greeks and the Spaniards are still paying off their Olympic debts. We don’t have a roaring economy and endless money supply to support such ego driven enterprises. The final legacy of the games is always debt. Bad for America? You bet!
Now does that apply elsewhere?
It would have been a good thing if Obama had lost the Nobel Peace Prize. Good for America? You bet!
The Nobel Prize was given to Obama, nominated in his first 11 days in office, because of the promise of renewing diplomacy around the world. Obama, in his own way, did that and has now been rewarded for it. He has hugged Hugo Chavez and snubbed the Dalai Lama. He has left troops in Iraq and so far failed to apply his campaign promises to Afghanistan. He has pushed cap and trade tax and left our allies in the Czech Republic and Poland high and dry. Bad for America? You bet!
Carpet chewers are concerned about what others think of us, rather than doing what is right and moral. What others think of us is none of our business. What others do because of what they think of us is none of our business. Our business as world leader is to do what is moral and right. Unfortunately, a small group of Scandinavian anti-semitic socialists has awarded Obama for doing the opposite, and now we may get more of it. Bad for America? You bet!
If you’re a leftist truther, or warmer or garden-variety carpet chewer and you still think telling normal Americans that just because they put country before Obama looking good they’re un-patriotic, then let’s just remember a little of your history.
Remember,
You’re the ones who wanted America to lose a war.
You’re the ones who keep pretending our health care system isn’t good enough.
You’re the ones who wanted George W Bush to fail.
And I’m not talking about a few bed wetters. I’m talking about the leftists and the majority of people who vote Democrat. In other words, the rage extends way beyond the lip-pierced Deaniacs, aging hippies and other fringes of the Democratic Party. Lots of otherwise sensible people—suburban moms, hospital orderlies, schoolteachers, and big-hatted church ladies want America to fail. And you’re getting it with every step towards apology, feel-goodism, disarmament and do-nothingness.
Whether a commander in chief has a good day or not means nothing except to narcissists and those who spend their days swatting at imaginary flies.
You’re the ones who wanted George W Bush to fail.

Bush was a FAILURE in so many ways. No one could possibly wish that on him. He did it himself. And since when did all those sensible people u list become US haters? Really, Terry, you need to wean yourself off of the nutter sites like this one you linked to. It’s not healthy to keep getting it all wrong. It won’t make you happy, either 😉
Obama’s a world wide rock star right now. I think he should enjoy the moments like this when he gets showered with praise, $$$$ and acknowledgements. He’s a popular guy and he’s OUR popular guy, which is nice for a change.
Terry, please send in your hysterical donations today to GOP chairman/token, Michael Steele who is using this scary moment in history to get donations wrung out from whatever is left of the GOP: http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2009/10/09/steeles-nobel-comments-spark-backlash-on-the-backlash/
What a jealous, envious dope he is! And there are plenty of GOP’ers who think Obama is on the right track, and old Token Steele is on the wrong track.
Well Red,
To answer your first question, when a majority of Democrats checked their minds and hearts at the door and said they wanted George W Bush to fail, thats when they joined with the troglodytes on the left and became, as you put it, US haters. I do not use that term, however. Because, in their own small minds, they love the US. They just want to be somebody else and think that it takes what’s going on outside of them to do it. So they will change society until they feel better.
Now, I won’t attempt to care about changing your opinion of Obama’s stature. Anyone who thinks like you deserves to keep on thinkin.
I will mention that, just in the last couple of weeks we have had:
CHINA criticize us for adopting too much SOCIALISM and
FRANCE tell us we need to show COURAGE when it comes to Iran.
OK?
Now, your racist rant aside just because you can’t stand to see a black man representin off the liberal plantation, I wouldn’t do a damn thing about giving money to either party. They are both progressive bags of garbage. You just don’t seem to have realized the package you bought brings in the same corrupt, bought, sold and delivered stench of the last package.
There are more independent minded folks, and there are more of them than either party in the country now, by the by, who are realizing that the train don’t ride all the way to the station on this new one. And they are stepping off every day. He’s lost the health care package by 20 points now.

Yes, people SAY they want a government option, but that is a dead subject. And YES, Congress gets the same approval ratings as 1994. And YES, the Republicans are doing just as bad.
But I don’t have to get on here and yelp and bark about my frustration with the Republicans because they got handed their hat and somebody else got a chance to play king for awhile. And the king still sucks. And it will suck in 2012 or 2016. And I will always have something to say about government not leaving alone the lives and life of its citizens.
That will always be my point.
P.S.
If you are going to try and say I am getting it all wrong, please:
Back up that the stats I provide are NOT true and,
Stop lying that government care is: more efficient, costs less, and helps more… in fact, you have to quit saying that there is a single thing that government run health care would do, besides trash the tenth amendment.
Terry Crawley,
“Carpet chewers are concerned about what others think of us, rather than doing what is right and moral.”
You mean “right and moral” like starting an UNNECESSARY WAR? The rest of the world KNOWS what this country DID under Bush Jr.’s tenure, unfortunately, due to out corporate media, most Americans DO NOT. The rest of the world has SEEN the DEATH and DESTRUCTION we brought to Iraq, NOTHING COULD BE MORE IMMORAL than that, yet you repugnant Republicans continue on in your DISGUSTING and EVIL WARMONGERING ways, as if Iraq never happened, out-of-sight, out-of-mind.
We Americans have committed HEINOUS ACTS in the name of our “safety”, Obama has signaled an end to AMERICA’S REIGN OF TERROR and the world is grateful!
Not surprising that you are a “tenther” Terry, it appeals to the ignorant and irrational who suffer from Obama Derangement Syndrome. I would however, direct you to Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, it sort of renders your Tenth amendment “argument” moot;
“The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and PROVIDE FOR THE COMMON DEFENSE AND GENERAL WELFARE OF THE UNITED STATES; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;” …..
“To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.”
whereas the Tenth amendment reads;
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
It appears that the POWER to provide for the general welfare was ALREADY DELEGATED, no?
No.
#4,
Great reply, Mr. Political Science major, what a joke you and your “degree” are.
Well, anonster, I am sure that you and the rest of your Code “Pink Burqas” would be happy that 28 million people were still living under a tyrannical regime. I am sure you would have been happy to continue telling a population that in the 1970’s was one of the most literate in the world that voting for a single name on the ballot was democracy. I am certain you would have been happy to tell the nations of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States, who were frightened to death of a militant with oil dollars that they just had to live with it. I am certain that any good that was done you would have undone because it was America that did the good, and that is something people like you just can’t stand.
Mr Crowley,
The results are in; America has now COMPLETELY miscalculated the tribal, ethnic, religious divisions in 2 countries (Iraq and Afghanistan). Iraq, formerly under Sunni rule, is now Shiite dominated. Shiite just like what other country? Ooops…that would be Iran. We, the United States, have had more to do than anyone with the strengthening of Iran in the region. Democracy in Iraq? More like a loose collection of autonomous regions resisting centralized control. It’s barely a country.
The situation is worse in Afghanistan. It never was a country. It still isn’t. Yet we had the hubris to believe we could go in, install Karzai, and Democracy would flow like milk and honey. Hasn’t happened. Won’t happen. Afghanistan is a hopeless wasteland of warlords, tribal strife and ethnic conflict that no number of troops is going to “fix”. It’s time to get out and focus on al Qaeda.
T.C. – Are you quoting the same France that espoused our cooling our jets on going into Iraq; the same France that had to give up the title of French Fries for Freedom Fries?
As for Iran, and how our deeds are viewed by the rest of the world, Iran is the perfect example given the goings on of Kermit Roosevelt Jr. and the overthrow of Dr. Mohammed Mossadegh. It’s these sorts of things that families talk about over dinner in lands that don’t have the distractions we have here. Feelings run deep when an outside country removes your democratically elected president. The resulting problems we’ve experienced in Iran since Mossadegh’s ouster and the Shah’s installation all stem from actions we initiated. It makes one wonder what will become of the whole Zelaya mess in Honduras.
America Right Or Wrong really shouldn’t be our rallying cry, both good and bad have been done in America’s name, whether certain factions choose to recognize it or not. We might be better suited with America Wise Or Not.
Oh, and as for overthrowing tyrannical regimes…if that’s the justification for going into Iraq (brought to the fore after WMD were not discovered), then we’d be bounding around the world invading a lot of other countries. Even Classical Conservatives like Pat Buchanan can see the folly in the choice to invade Iraq.
As for Saudi Arabia, how do explain the fact that almost all of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi, yet that country experienced NO American reprisals in the wake of that attack on American soil?
#6 Ignoramus,
You might want to do a bit more reading to find out who was responsible for making Iraq’s citizens ” one of the most literate in the world”.
I know you head-in-the-sand types don’t like to dig too deep, but just scratching the surface of Iraq’s history over the last 50 years puts the CIA front and center, Saddam was our man and we knew his capabilities. You and your dumb/evil brethren can PRETEND we’ve done something ‘noble’, but the rest of the world and any American with their eyes and ears open, knows the truth about the HORRIFIC SUFFERING OUR DIRTY LITTLE WAR FOR OIL HAS CAUSED THE PEOPLE OF IRAQ.
Well, this is a nice discussion and all. But the argument IS over. Iraq is done. The war is won. Now, if we can just get a Democrat to take some action and get our boys out of there…
#11 Shameless liar,
We will NEVER leave Iraq, there will always be at least 50,000 troops stationed there. How else can we protect the oil companies interests?
That’s why it is always a BAD IDEA to start unnecessary wars, they are destructive, costly and can go on forever, but I wonder if any of you WARMONGERS ever gave the long term consequences of your BLOODLUST a second thought?
Nah, you immoral idiots were in too much of a frenzy (waving your bibles and made-in-China flags) over the opportunity to kick-some-Iraqi-ass to do any thinkin’.
A strengthened Shiite alliance between Iraq and Iran constitutes a won war? LOL! Well, at least we got to flex some American muscle, right?
“Iraq is done. The war is won.”
Oh god Terry. LMAO… hahaha. Terry!!!!
