Beth Krom raised only $70,494 in the most recent quarter, as Allan Bartlett first posted. This was a far less than the $400,000+ she needed to raise. So the Krom campaign for congress, like the Great Park, isn’t delivering on the hopes of its supporters. When was the last time Dan put a Beth Krom post on the Liberal OC?

Lean times for the Krom campaign
I’m tired of these PTA (showing my age)moms who think because they can plan a cub scout pancake breakfast or their sons Bar Mitzvah then they are qualified to run for office. Beth has been Larry little gofer girl for sometime and is starting to believe that she exists without him. She doesn’t. Larry invented Beth and she will last on the council only as long as Larry wants her there.
Beth attends my Temple and as nice a lady she can be (although she talks WAY too much) she has no business being in politics.
Tyler: Big shock, Dan C. from Liberal OC is a fairweather friend? ~yawn~ Who did’nt see his stripes a long time ago?
Omg! #1 and #2 appear to be the SAME person. Looks like an overreactive jealousy gene kicked in there, girlie! And shock of shock! – Some pious person attacking a fellow worshipper. I certainly hope your Rabbi revisits some parable about only God judging others. Not YOU. But thanks for stopping by to post 😉
On to address this post. John Campbell apparently is fairly well funded by PAC money, and Beth is not. Clearly she is the underdog in this race. However, she would be the best representative, imo. Ever try and call Campbell’s office? He does not return calls. He didn’t bother to hold any townhalls about health care, even though health care insurance reform is becoming a historic event in short order. He’s a BIRTHER, for crissakes! He lucked into the job when Chris Cox ran off to his appointment at the SEC. Campbell doesn’t deserve to get a continued free pass. At least Beth is stepping up to the plate even though the financial competition is daunting. Here’s a portion of an email that her campaign just sent out. It looks like Beth Krom IS going to Washington. Let’s see if she can beef up her support on that trip.
Six
months ago, we launched the Beth Krom for Congress campaign. Our “Kick-off”
event was attended by more than 200 enthusiastic supporters. In our first three weeks we raised more than $63,000, out-raising our opponent in the first quarter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In our
second quarter we raised more than $70,000, bringing our total to almost $140,000. Worth noting is that while our opponent outpaced us with special interest PAC fundraising, more than 90% of our campaign contributions have come from real people…like you. It’s also nice to see that our message of “leadership, not partisanship” is resonating, with more than 20% of our contributions coming from registered Republicans!
Just this week we filed our third quarter fundraising report, and with your help we have now raised over $220,000 – with almost $210,000 of that coming in before the September 30 filing deadline.
I cannot thank you enough for the generous support you have provided to the campaign. Your confidence in our ability to win this race is a wonderful motivator, and you have my commitment that we will work hard every day to honor your support and build a winning campaign.
On October 25th, we will make our first trip to Washington. It’s time to introduce ourselves to the people who are watching our race and see this as a winning opportunity.
Politics is, at its core, relationship building. We know that our success will depend on broad support and we are excited about the prospect of gaining early endorsements and support from people who can help us raise our profile.
With less than 10 day to enhance our numbers, we have set a new goal – and with your continued support, I know we can achieve it.
We have a
great story to tell about a district that embraces education, economic development, environmental stewardship and which boasts the most culturally diverse, thoroughly integrated population of any Congressional district in America.
This
is a district that deserves effective representation – and a seat at the table on the important issues that affect people’s lives.
Please click here to help us reach our new goal before we head to Washington D.C.!
Here’s her website: http://www.bethkrom.com/ The lady could use a few bucks if you want to see some welcome change.
I still can’t believe Campbell didn’t hold a town hall on healthcare, that is absolutely insane! What is he scared of? He is in a supposed solidly red district without a chance of flipping. Even Royce is holding town halls left and right, and his district is way more safe. Talk about taking your constituents for granted.
Careful with that “apparently,” Red. I haven’t crunched the 3rd quarter numbers yet, but in second quarter this statement was FALSE. It was a Dan C talking point, and like so much that Dan C says it was great spin but not supported by the numbers.
However, if you want to encourage your OC Democrats to throw good money after bad, don’t let stop me you. Hell, let me *encourage* you!
Remember what has happened nearby in that last two cycles. Debbie Cook and Francine Busby, decent fundraisers both, each lost by double digits.
danapdem, he’s an arrogant SOB, for sure. I guess he’s taking his fundraising seriously this year in response to Krom’s challenge.
Gee, Tyler, if you’re gonna shill for someone, you should at least have some facts for challenges. YOUR BOY, John Campbell had this to say about his fundraising, in an article stating that incumbents are leading fundraising efforts over their challengers: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/raised-money-period-2610168-sept-cash
In the 48th District, incumbent Rep. John Campbell, R-Irvine is outraising his Democratic challenger Irvine City Councilwoman Beth Krom.
Campbell has so far raised $425,149 with $141,835 coming this period. He has $749,531 cash on hand.
“I’m certainly raising money more aggressively than I have in the past,” said Campbell. ‘I want to send the message out and make it clear that this campaign will absolutely be fully funded.”
Campbell said he knows he is being targeted by some Washington, D.C. groups because President Barack Obama carried the 48th District in 2008.
Krom, who is hoping to capitalize on that support, has so far raised $209,885, with $79,494 this period. She has $126,326 cash on hand.
“I have no illusions about the fact that this is going to be a hard-fought campaign,” said Krom. “I’m not going to measure my numbers against his numbers.”
Krom said while Campbell raised nearly half his money – $177,313, from PACs, she raised all but $15,896 from “real people.”
I am NO democrat, Tyler. I am the REAL mavericky part of the GOP that thinks we should flush out imbeciles like Bachmann, Palin, Campbell, Duvall, Vitter, Hackermans and others like the self-serving “birthers” who are taking up space in the party and alienating intelligent dialogue.
Campbell’s entitlement mentality is a disgrace. He represents very few in his district. His main concern is himself. I bet he avoids debate with Krom. Ever heard the guy try and make a point? He’s useless.
I would guess that Beth Krom is still in mourning and shock over the loss of her son. I had a difficult time overcomng the death of my brother. I can only imagine what beth feels like as a mother who lost a son. I think you should give Beth Krom a break ont he criticsm and lay off of her Tyler.
Red, you and tyler are probably a lot closer politically than you might suspect. But, I believe tyler is rightly scandalized by the Agran machine’s machinations, and Krom is tied to him at the hip. No Agran, no Krom.
Paul, that “lay off her” is ridiculous. Her son died. She stayed in the race. Did she think she would get a free pass from criticism? In any case the post is about fundraising. A hard reality to get around.
I believe tyler is rightly scandalized by the Agran machine’s machinations, and Krom is tied to him at the hip. No Agran, no Krom.
David, I usually enjoy what you write and you usually make a lot of sense. You seem clear headed and even keeled in your assessments. Having said THAT, please, please explain all this evil Larry Agran stuff. I have read what is out there so far, and I just don’t get that he’s some kind of criminal.
I actually met Larry this past summer for the first time at the great park and what struck me is the guy is not scary at all. He hands out his business cards like halloween candy and he’s a networking maniac, but he does not present at shifty at all and I just want to know what the specific criticisms of him are. thanks for any insight!
Red,
I remember that the local Reeps used to say “what corruption,” when I complained about Mike Carona. But there was ample evidence in the pages of the OC Weekly. Such is the case with Agran.
I trust the folks at the OC Weekly. And on top of that Agran’s corruption has played out in the local papers.
That Agran is corrupt is a fact. That Krom is his ally is unfortunate for her.
Neither Krom nor Campbell are worthy of support.
Red, it’s a long story: from the shady slate mailers to the no-bid contracts at the Great Pork for Larry’s pals. I agree with Art: go to the Weekly archives and search on Agran. It’s really sort of shocking and will be a real eye-opener; also surprising is the way the DA has avoided looking into the play of money and influence in Irvine – but, of course if he did that he might have to start looking at Republican influence peddling in OC, too.
I’m not surprised Larry can come across as folksy; so did Huey Long.
Okay Guys, I read those articles. The fact that Agran wrested the El Toro airport out of the hands of NB interests who were determined to put in an airport, is probably evidence enough that he has special political powers that should be wiped out.
Krom, Agran and Kang have not damaged Irvine during their reign of supposed terror. Campbell has been a pathetic representative. Krom’s the dark horse, but at least she’ll make a run at it.
