Jack Black burns down the Chancellor’s house in Orange County, the Movie
“No justice, no peace,” chanted berserking Berkeley protesters attacking and torching the Chancellor’s home. Governor Schwarzenegger has condemned the rampaging protesters as terrorists. Police arrested 8 protesters, including 2 Berkeley students (and 6 union goons?). The Bay City News Service reports that “66 protesters who had been occupying Wheeler Hall for several days were arrested” earlier Friday “for misdemeanor trespassing or resisting arrest.” Protesters are upset that undergraduate student fees will be increased from around $5000 to $7500. The incident illustrates how government entitlements give rise to leftist violence when those entitlements are threatened.
Can you explain how the basic undergraduate fee has anything to do with government entitlements?
Simple – the students believe that they are entitled to a cheap taxpayer-subsidized education. They are angry because they are being asked to pay more for their own education.
Oh really? You speak for students?
There are MANY UC students who pay ALL of that fee, out of pocket. Try telling THEM not to be angry.
These are the type of students they have created and now they are enjoying the fruits of their labor.
I think the students actions speak for themselves.
I’d tell them this – welcome to the real world. Now, I guess they get to work and borrow to pay for their education just like I and many others did.
The world doesn’t owe them a higher education. And it didn’t owe me one.
If a higher education is of value to them, they will work harder and borrow like the rest of us.
You’re a silly man.
Full Circle,
Irony can be pretty ironic sometimes.
Great post Rogue E! You’re absolutely right. It IS an entitlement mentality.
From $7.50 per class a day to $10, and there’s no justice no peace… very sad.
But you gave me free breakfast’s and lunches in SAUSD while I spent the money saved on flat screens, cable T.V., I-Pods, gas and a car to cruise on Bristol, baggy pants, and weed. And now you expect me to actually pay for my educations? Waz up wit dat?
Yeah, why stop there? Why should any education be paid for by the state?
