“It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.” – Thomas Jefferson
We need government. We do. We need it to help us through the trying times. Times when our leaders are making such horrible decisions and leading us into such disastrous consequences. The Obama administration keeps trying to tell the American people they don’t know a good thing in Obamacare when they see it, the separation of powers is unhealthy, and you had your taxes cut last year. Wait, I’m sorry. You’re right. That was $13 a week, wasn’t it?
In testimony before the House Budget Committee last week, the CBO Director laid out what was in store for the tax and spend U.S. economy for the next two years. The employment rate will average 10.2 percent through 2011. GDP will stay an anemic 1.8 percent. We are going to push debt levels to 60% of GDP and higher. This is territory most developed nations stay out of. Countries like Zimbabwe have played with these kinds of numbers. Companies aren’t hiring because they have no idea what the rules of the game are going to be. Next month, this administration could change its mind. And, contrary to the rhibald rhetoric, personal taxes on savings and capital formation are going to soar come 2011. In anticipation of the coming taxes, companies will shift income and profits into the lower tax year, making 2011 even worse.
The price of doing the same old thing is far higher than the price of change. – Bill Clinton
The Party of Government is showing its dark side. While the stimulus was spent saving hundreds of jobs, they were all Union or government sector jobs. Just the kind of jobs the Party of Government relies on as beneficiaries of its largesse. They keep the votes coming. As the voice for the Party of Government, Obama did NOT say things like “Card Check”, “Cap and Trade”, and “Guantanamo”. That’s because the interests of the nation are not the interests of the Party of Government. When unemployment was 8.2% last year, Obama said his agenda began with jobs.
And then we got 11 months of Health Care monotony.
Now Obama is starting to feel the heat on bring terrorism to justice via New York City. The pressure from the governor and the mayor and others is so intense the President has ordered Justice to look for other places to hold the mock trials.
I say mock because that is exactly what they will do to the Justice System. You will have unhinged jew bashing, slandering of US soldiers, and twisting the Constitution to provide cover for terrorist antics. And that’s just from observing Democrats. From the terrorists on trial you will get all that, witness intimidation and worse.
Don’t believe me? Check out the trial of “Terror Mom“.
Then you have the Christmas bomber. Basically, he was told to shut up 50 minutes into his questioning by Justice officials who didn’t want him spilling his guts about other threats to American citizens.
Now we know that the decision to Mirandize Abdulmutallab had been made without the knowledge of or consultation with (1) the secretary of defense, (2) the secretary of homeland security, (3) the director of the FBI, (4) the director of the National Counterterrorism Center or (5) the director of national intelligence (DNI). The Justice Department acted not just unilaterally but unaccountably. Obama’s own DNI said that Abdulmutallab should have been interrogated by the HIG, the administration’s new High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group.
Perhaps you hadn’t heard the term. Well, in the very first week of his presidency, Obama abolished by executive order the Bush-Cheney interrogation procedures and pledged to study a substitute mechanism. In August, the administration announced the establishment of the HIG, housed in the FBI but overseen by the National Security Council.
Where was it during the Abdulmutallab case? Not available, admitted National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair, because it had only been conceived for use abroad. Had not one person in this vast administration of highly nuanced sophisticates considered the possibility of a terror attack on American soil?
It gets worse. Blair later had to explain that the HIG was not deployed because it does not yet exist After a year! I suppose this administration was so busy deploying scores of the country’s best lawyerly minds on finding the most rapid way to release Gitmo miscreants that it could not be bothered to establish a single operational HIG team to interrogate at-large miscreants with actionable intelligence that might save American lives.
“That was $13 a week, wasn’t it?”
Terry, I don’t know if your calculation is accurate. But suppose it is, little people like myself can use an extra $50 a month, so don’t knock the $13 a week tax cut.
