Sandra Hutchens found it difficult to garner applause at the OC Young Republican’s Sheriff’s candidate forum last night, but she did have one shining moment. Unfortunately it came when she implored gun owners to vote for her opponents if they desire to see less restrictions on concealed weapons permits in Orange County.

Our unelected sheriff, Sandra Hutchens, came into office on a divided county supervisors vote. This is why elections are so important. Only 5 people were allowed to cast a vote to hire Hutchens. After seeing her agenda in action I won’t be voting in her favor during the real elections. Hutchens saw fit not only to revoke CCW permits for law-abiding residents, but she also tightened up privileges for reserve deputies. No doubt some of these people were politically connected but the sheriff makes no distinctions in her wide swath of Political Correctness by Sandra Hutchens. She has made it quite clear that only “her” deputies should have anything to do with our protection. And “her” jail doesn’t need any oversight at all. Excuse me, but more people have died in the Sheriff’s jail than by any CCW permit. Hutchens has no jail experience, several of her opponents do. Hutchens spent her career with LAPD, not always a great resume item. Several of her opponents are Orange County Law Enforcement. Surely in a county of 3 million+ we can have a local professional with decades of experience here, where we live and work. Hutchens may be a resident but she has never worked OC. We could use someone who has.
