No Surprise: The party of Tom Umberg, Joe Dunn and Tom Daly went with Dave Jones over Hector De La Torre, for Insurance Commissioner
The Democratic Party of Orange County announced their June primary endorsements, earlier this week. Most of the folks endorsed are incumbents, but there are a few contested races.
In the Governor’s race, no surprise, they went with retread Jerry Brown. And they picked Dave Jones for Insurance Commissioner, over Latino candidate Hector De La Torre. No surprise there either. The DPOC doesn’t exactly have a great history of supporting Latino candidates. Oh they do eventually, but generally only after the Latino candidate has become an incumbent.
And the DPOC went with Melissa Fox over Mike Glover, in the 70th A.D. Doesn’t matter – that seat won’t be going to the Democrats this year.
Here are the rest of the DPOC endorsements:
U.S. Senator, Barbara Boxer
U.S. Representative, 44th Congressional District, Bill Hedrick
U.S. Representative, 46th Congressional District, Ken Arnold
U.S. Representative, 47th Congressional District, Loretta Sanchez
U.S. Representative, 48th Congressional District, Beth Krom
Governor, Edmund ‘Jerry’ G. Brown

State Assembly 68th Assembly District, Phu Nguyen
State Assembly 69th Assembly District, Jose Solorio

State Assembly 72nd Assembly District, Esiquio Ramos Uballe

The Democratic Party of Orange has taken the following positions on the State Propositions:
State Proposition 13: YES on LIMITS ON PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT. SEISMIC RETROFITTING OF EXISTING BUILDINGS. LEGISLATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.
State Proposition 14: NO on ELECTIONS. PRIMARIES.
State Proposition 15 : YES on CALIFORNIA FAIR ELECTIONS ACT
State Proposition 16: NO on IMPOSES NEW TWO-THIRDS VOTER APPROVAL REQUIREMENT FOR LOCAL PUBLIC ELECTRICITY PROVIDERS. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.
State Proposition 17: NO on ALLOWS AUTO INSURANCE COMPANIES TO BASE THEIR PRICES IN PART ON A DRIVER’S HISTORY OF INSURANCE COVERAGE. INITIATIVE STATUTE.
As much as I cannot stand and will not vote for John Campbell because of his vote for TARP and his implied endorsement of the Obama “birther” movement, you can add Beth Krom to the list of candidates that will end in the trash heap of various other Democratic candidates who failed to win a seat in the 48th CD. Maybe she’ll use the memory of her dead son to shill for votes like she did in her fund raising letter this year. When all else fails, try the pathetic sympathy route.
