It looks like gay-bashing O.C. Board of Education Trustee Alexandria Coronado is going to lose her seat to Taft University President David L. Boyd.
So far, Coronado is behind by about a thousand votes.
This is a stunning turn of events given that Coronado is an incumbent and she had the OC GOP machine behind her.
Ours was the ONLY blog that wrote about this race in the months prior to the primary election. I first wrote about Boyd on March 10. Click here to read that post. I wrote a post on May 13, about how Coronado lied about her endorsements. Click here to read that post. On May 14, I wrote yet another post about Boyd. Click here to read that post. And I endorsed him in my publisher’s picks.
I am very pleased that Boyd is ahead and I hope he wins!
Boyd is far more qualified to serve in this office than Coronado, who is a piano teacher. As an Education Trustee, Coronado is supposed to serve everyone. She doesn’t. Boyd will.
And I endorsed him as well, linking to your post. And announced that he won late last night, in our collaborative live-blogging post.
What, are you saying there are still over a thousand votes to be counted?
Nice to see the mean lady fail anyway!
I saw a red count story about this race from Chis E. but looked for it today and could find it.
This guy was Alexandia Coronado consultant and pretty much would win because of the poorly designed mailers from David’s camp. However, with the outcome what does this say about his own work consulting work given this is an incu, bent republican in a republican district.
I want to thank you guys for the endorsements and the forum. I believed from the beginning if the voters could be made aware of what Coronado stands for we would have a chance.
After she received the Republican Party endorsements I was prevented from posting on the Red County blog so the visibility here was even more important.
There are still ballots to count but from what I understand this should wrap-up tomorrow.
Don’t try and take credit for this victory. Long Beach resident and my pal Chris Prevatt started promoting David Boyd as soon as he saw the election results this morning. Clearly it is our influence and power that won Mr. Boyd this race.
No need to argue over who gets credit for Mr. Boyd’s victory – it was a community effort…a community who had enough of Ms. Coronado’s hateful comments about our gay community. Regarding Joe’s comment about the article on “Red County” posted by Chris Emami – as soon as it was evident Mr. Boyd was going to win, it was removed. Representing Ms. Coronado in this loss not only tells us about Mr. Emami’s work as a consultant, it tells us about his judgment. Any consultant who would work for someone with such hate in their soul, raises moral questions in at least my mind.
Congratulations to all of us who supported Mr. Boyd. It was a team effort.
Regardless of whose influence helpled Mr. Boyd win, I am RELIEVED that it looks like the hateful and phony Dr. Coronado has been voted out and it’s about time!!! Keep getting the word out, though, because I’m sure she’ll hop into some other political contest. This county, state and country need people to serve us that believe in bringing EVERYONE together!
Alexandria Coronado is the furthest thing from a Latino. She doesn’t even speak Spanish!
She can’t get a man bc she is so strange.
