Well, we got our response to the inital post I wrote in an attempt to end the festering Orange County blog war.
If you recall, we asked the bloggers at the Liberal OC to cease hostilities. Their editor, Dan Chmielewski, responded yesterday with a post stating that there is no blog war.
With all due respect, we must disagree. We pointed out already how ridiculous this blog war has become, with police officers showing up at Chmielewski’s and Sean Mill’s homes to interrogate them about anonymous comments made at the FFFF blog. And of course there is the matter of the lawsuit brought by Chmielewski and his cohorts.
Chmielewski now wants $20,000 to settle his frivolous lawsuit. He knows I haven’t the money to do that or to even get a lawyer. And yet he says this is no blog war.
He also claims that we are waging a personal war against Red County editor Matt Cunningham. Not so. Our friend Tony Bushala, of the FFFF blog, has uncovered evidence that Cunningham ripped off taxpayers by profiting from the Prop. 10 Children and Families Commission. That is what Bushala has been cross-posting here. Is that a personal attack or just good research? The point of these posts has been all about principle – as in it is unprincipled for the supposedly conservative Cunningham to make a mint off a liberal measure, and in the process take money that should have been spent on “the children.”
I am not going to let anyone personally attack Cunningham, but pointing out his hypocrisy is fair game. Remember that he is an appointed official, on both the Orange Planning Commission and the County of Orange Parks and Recreation Commission. And he is a political consultant. As I said before, he has skin in the game.
I am sorry that Chmielewski and company are not inclined to end all of this animosity. If you want to read what they have to say, we have restored our RSS links, which appear on our home page, below our posts. And we have included links to the Liberal OC, even though they continue to attack and ridicule us. Why did we do this? Because we are dead serious about ending this blog war, even if our counterparts at the Liberal OC want to keep heaping on the scorn.
In our continuing efforts to end the hostilities we also deleted over forty posts that I felt were too personal in nature against other O.C. bloggers and their allies – permanently trashing them.
I have a friend who is helping me to set up a legal defense fund. I will keep you posted. I don’t want to fight these guys but they are intent on destroying me and wrecking my family in the process. I have no choice but to defend myself.
In the meantime, click here to sign an online petition asking Chmielewski to drop this lawsuit. Thank you!
I want to thank all my friends who called and emailed Chmielewski. I am sorry that he has resorted to threatening you on his blog. I appreciate your bravery in standing up to these attacks!
Pedroza, it is difficult to end the war with the enemy who is in war with himself.
For Example: You are in war with my anon identity, Ed Gonzalo….. Why?
“Ed” wants you to respect constitutional rights and first amendment even if you believe that you do not have to…… and why you believe so?
Because you are first Mexican Nationalist and the America In Name Only.
There is universal law which is called Golden Rule or Newton’s laws of Physics.
The fact that I am correct is the fact that your life is crumbling around you ad I have predicted that 6 years ago..
You have no friends and will not race any decent defense money….. how much did you race for your election?
I could substantially contribute but will not!…… I may ask city council and Pulido to help you.
The blogging is about community stupid and not about clicks!
Enjoy.
“I am not going to let anyone personally attack Cunningham, but pointing out his hypocrisy is fair game.” – famous last words:
From a June 2, 2010 post by Sean Hill – “Since Wisckol and the others [including Cunningham] are busy circle jerking each other . . .”
From an April 29, 2010 post by you – “I complained about Red County editor Matt ‘Jerbal’ Cunningham . . .”
From an April 28, 2010 post by Sgt. York – “I am still getting email forwards of psychotic rants being written by the Jerbal and others . . .”
From a March 22, 2010 post by admin. – “Matt Cunningham, who some refer to as ‘Jerbal,’ Red County blog . . .”
From a March 15, 2010 post by admin. – “Matt ‘Jerbal’ Cunningham needed a defense lawyer, after he posted the names of victims of molestation” – complete with picture of Cunningham with apparent gerbil nose and whiskers
From a February 25, 2010 post by Sean Hill – “It appears that it’s going to be ‘The Daly Show with Jerbal Cunningham’ at Mauve County from now until election day.” – complete with a “Jerbal is going to have some egg on his whiskered face when Hugh takes out the corrupt money-waster Daly!” comment from you.
From a February 13, 2010 post from Sgt. York – “It even features a comment from the Rally Gerbil attacking Art Pedroza.” – complete with a comment from you referring to him as “Jerbal” no less than 3 times.
The list goes on and on, and I haven’t even referenced many of the hate-filled personal attacks on Cunningham from commenters that are still up.
I don’t know Cunningham from Adam. My point is that it’s very interesting that you claim that you’re not going to let anyone attack Cunningham personally when the heat is on with a lawsuit, while you have let it go on unfettered for so long. I’ll be watching future posts to see if you adhere to your promise of ending the personal attacks (calling a man “Jerbal” qualifies I would think) and sticking to the facts.
Newbie,
All of those posts came BEFORE our post about ending the blog war.
Judge us by what happens now, not what has gone on before.
I think it’s funny that only three people have signed the petition. I know I won’t be one of them, it seems to me like the case has some merits.
The “war” is ending, it’s because the liberal oc guys have incurred thousands of dollars in legal fees. They shouldn’t have to walk away from that. It wasn’t their job to pay the bills that were necessary to end a war someone else started.
Maybe some sort of mediation is in order. I’m not sure if Arft would be able to walk away with this, but I’m pretty sure he would have to come up with something.
John.
In four months this state and nation will conduct a very important election. Focusing on those races and ballot measures is where our varied energies and political opinions should be utilized, not an ongoing debate between OC blogs.
I agree. So why did Art make this post then? Seemed like he was inviting more comment to a personal matter.
ocgirrl,
Just to make it clear what our position is, that’s all. We aren’t going to be goaded into another blog war.
Sitting here in mommy and daddy’s house on Hemlock and I just hope this blog war doesn’t lead to my travel itinerary being made public. Traveling to places that specialize in the sex trade like Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand could prove embarassing for me during the campaign.
LAUSD Loser,
OK. Weird. Isn’t Hemlock some kind of poison?
Wow. Those channelling “the right wing noise machine” are introducing an adversery into the fight.
Despite all of this friviolous lawsuit bullshit, the this that is striking is how cozy, the far left and far right bloggers (at least in name). Yet neither of them stray from their party rich positions to post or take on any real issues like the OJ and FFFF have done.
The other blogs are hollow and to use a word Art likes: lame. There is no hard hitting commentary, no real individual effort, as Coach Wooden liked to say: “They’ve got no skin in the game”.
It does’nt sound like this fight will end soon, based on Dan’s comments, I don’t think he wants it to. What the OJ is, is far different from what Dan and Matt do, and I think they don’t like it.
I am stunned that The Liberal OC would not question Cunninghams work at the OCCFC, even if it is all legitimate: it smells bad. And as the “challengers of the Right Wing Noise Machine” I think thats incumbant upon them. But then again, I won’t hold my breath.
Good Luck with this one Art.
***MEMO TO THE STALKER CONTACTING MY EMPLOYER: I AM ON A BREAK AND USING MY OWN COMPUTER. PLEASE LET MY EMPLOYER KNOW THAT WHEN YOU FORWARD THIS TO THEM***
Art,
I commend you for trying to put the silliness to rest but from what I can gather those folks are determined to drag this frivilous lawsuit as far as they can. I think that this is what these folks live for and it is eating them alive.
Reading what has been written by them and their band of followers these last few days has been quite amusing. I have been accused of one thing or another by the whole lot of them. Mike Tardif is accusing me of vandalising his business and Dan and Claudio are insinuating that the are going to sue me as well.
Well let me be very clear on this, put up or shut up. If you are going to accuse me of things you better damn well be able to prove it. If Tardif thinks I was involved in vandalism at his business I ask him to go to the SAPD with evidence or shut up. If he continues to accuse me of things that I have not done I will sue his ass. I am not going to roll over and take anything from this group of bullies.
These people may be able to bully some folks but they won’t bully me. I am not afraid of their hollow threats. Don’t bite off more than you can chew fellas.
It’s become preety obvious that these guys are playing right out of Matt’s playbook.
Dan said as much today, that nothing else matters but the money. That strikes me disengenuous coming from someone who has repeatedly talked about being a champion of the people.
Aside from the sophmoric stunts (sending EMAILS to employers and calling the cops) Dan, Chris and Claudio’s actions stink of Irvine Democrat Wannabe’s.
Maybe one day one of them will decide to get thier hands dirty and actually try and DO something instead of always taking the easy way out.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!
Sean,
If I have learned one thing this year it is that when we strike back in anger we only amplify the bitterness and hate. It becomes an endless cycle of vitriol.
The human capacity for such behavior is without bounds. Forgiveness, on the other hand, is an exceedingly rare quality.
Turning the other cheek is painful but the alternative is even worse.
It is easy to see how principled people can end up ranting about money, of all things.
It is never too late. I hope that these men will see the light and turn away from their bitter path.
It seems to me this new meekness just encourages and provokes them more. They’re like sharks that taste blood. I really don’t know what to suggest.
Vern,
I too have been taken aback by the heated response.
It is terribly difficult to cast aside such emotions, so let’s not be too quick to judge them. Both sides have engaged in horrid practices throughout this long blog war.
I won’t take the bait. I am committed to ending hostilities. Does that make me the weaker man? in the eyes of some, yes. I believe however that good might yet prevail.
The Liberal OC was the brainchild of one Mike Lawson – as gentle a soul as one could ever hope to meet. I can but hope that some shred of his human decency remains at that blog.
