I will say this for Alfredo Amezcua, he still isn’t being specific about what it is he intends to do as Mayor of Santa Ana, but he sure does hold a lot of fundraisers.
His spokesperson, Dr. Art Lomeli, a Republican resident of Orange Park Acres who owns a dentistry practice in downtown Santa Ana, has said repeatedly that if you want to know what Amezcua’s plans are then you have to go to his fundraisers, his meet and greet events or call him.
Your next chance to do just that is this Saturday, July 31, from 4 pm to 6 pm at 2802 Waverly Place, in Santa Ana.
If you play your cards straight you can actually get free food from Alfredo all day long on Saturday.

Hey Art…any chance you can attend with Mr. Collins and have him video Al in action answering questions? Seems like this is the only way some of us will ever see him. Some of us are old and don’t get out of the house much any more but we do read your blog and would love to see the candidates speak. Keep up the good work. Who, other than Dr. Lomeli, is on record supporting Mr. Amezqua? Has Councilwoman Martinez endorsed him this time around? How about fellow board members from the now B.K. Santa Ana Business Bank? On that note, it’s been soooooooooooooooooooo long since you have given us an update on Councilman Carlos Bustamonte. Is he still on the Council? Havn’t heard a peep out of him for a few years. Does he support Amezqua?

I find it interesting that local chismoso Ruben Alvarez is supporting Amezcua. In 2008, Alvarez did NOT support Martinez. He went all in with Pulido. Now he is against Pulido, at a time when Pulido and the Council have come around and are doing a good job serving our community.
As for Bustamante, he is useless. He shows up to meetings but contributes nothing. His political career is all but over.

You seem intrigued by Alfredo Amezcua and everything he does. I’m sure he’s very grateful that he is always on your mind. You should join the campaign. A gentlemen like you would always be greatly appreciated their. It will also let everyone in Santa Ana know exactly how he wants to make Santa Ana a better place to live. I enjoy reading your columns about Alfredo it makes me think finally a new direction for the city of Santa Ana. He’s got my vote because I’ve yet to see real change. Thank you and have a blessed day.

I tried. I met with Amezcua early on. But my colleague Sean Mill and I warned him not to get involved with the Usual Suspects, and he did anyway. Very sad.
I am trying to be fair with both sides. We have posted near every single Amezcua press release. But I am getting very tired of the constant rhetoric without any solid ideas or proposals.
Maybe he just needs more time to figure things out? Maybe he is being coy? Hard to say. I hope he will soon let us know what his solutions are.
