Norbert and boss, union chief Nick Berardino discuss how the former can help the later while still pretending to be an objective journalist. The location seems to be the Voice of OC's office in the Santora Building, rent courtesy of the OCEA.
When he graduated from journalism school, Norberto Santa, formerly of the Orange County Register and more recently writer for the comically self-described “non-profit” Voice of OC, likely told his friends and family how he was going to change the world by exposing, well, things, that needed exposing.
Read the rest of “The Sad Degenerate World of Norberto Santana, Jr.”
All I know is Norberto does good work on the Fairgrounds issue. I don’t check out much of that publication apart from that.
Who writes this stuff? That the VOC and Santana’s efforts are funded by a union tells us nothing about the quality of their journalism. That’s pretty basic. If Bushala wants to argue that there is something wrong with Santana’s reporting, then he needs to give examples of S’s misreporting. C’mon!
Ilike Norberto. hes a good guy and a friend. I dont really read the VOC because the format is not very appealing to me. But Iike Norbet alot. Im gald to call him a friend.
It is sad that so many reporters have had to find new ways to make a living, as the newspapers die off. Santana is certainly way better than a hack like Martin Wisckol, but he seems ill-used at VOC.
Ok, so VOC is supported by a union…and the LA Times, OC Reg are funded by??? (subscriptions are a cute answer, but no…)
The Times and Register are both fairly useless as our blog has pointed out. But the VOC(EA) has insinuated itself into partisan politics at the behest of the County employee union. To treat it as a serious “news” outlet is a joke.
Roy, how many posts have they done about all the stuff pulled by Democrat Tom Daly, for instance? Zero. How about posts on union-favorite Harry Sidhu’s fake addresses, and his lying about it under penalty on official ROV forms? Zero.
Picking and choosing on-line stories to write about based on personal preference and the whims of your sugar daddy makes you a blog – not a journalistic endeavor.
Don’t mistake “non-profit” for unbiased.
I need to agree with Tony here.
This is a union rag (as a former union man myself). He is a mouthpiece for the OCCEA like Matt “JUBAL” Cunningham was for the church, or Chip Hanlon is for Meg Whitman:
PAID MOUTHPIECES.
No original content, Completely biased, not in anyway community minded! Why OJB gets bashed for exposing this stuff, Tony gets lambasted for defending his community, meanwhile Matt has not had the sense to promote St. Norberts fundraisers (may because Chip would charge him), I HAVE never seen anything on LOC that was’nt self serving. Then again, they don’t live here!
Back on point, the VOC is a boring, poorly written blog.
So Bushala’s benchmark for being a “credible” news source is whether or not you have reported on his “stories”, huh?
That’s not too self-serving or ego-centric is it?
Bushala/Joe Sipowicz/Mr. Peabody/every other phony name he uses is a crank who is only interested in pursuing vendettas and shilling for his friends. He craps all over every reporter and blogger in OC and then complains they ignore his stuff. What an idiot.
Norberto is a breath of fresh air.
I really like his writing style, and he gets to the heart of the story.
Regarding the OC fairgrounds , only Vern can claim dominance, and even then he’s been scooped a couple of times by Norberto.
I don’t go to the OC Register for news………..and it saddens me that many don’t consider it “news” until it’s printed in that rag….
