I’ve done my part. Now it’s up to you.
This is your opportunity to take an active role in your government. While several of these races are outside my area, I have followed or personally have met many of those whose names appear above.
When I ran for the Mission Viejo city council in 1994 the absentee voting was only 18 percent with a voter turnout at 70%. In our 2008 election, with a turnout of 78.2%, 48 percent of the votes were cast by absentee ballots. We may surpass a 60% absentee vote in this election.
Part 2 of 2 will address the nine ballot Measures numbers 19 through 27.
Wow!
Did you copy the Schindler’s list?……
Stanley. Sorry I left off some of your candidates.
Václav Klaus
Josef Tosovsky
Milos Zeman
Vladimír Spidla
Stanislav Gross
Jirí Paroubek
Mirek Topolánek
Jan Fischer
Petr Necas
Well you still know how to copy and paste Larry….. good for blogging.
However, first thing my candidates would do is to legalize prostitution and some drugs.
So you better stick with your dinosaurs list.
Stanley my dinosaurs were leaders from your homeland. Those who are still alive miss you. I told them that we need you in Santa Ana to keep us on our toes.
“to keep us on our toes”……… hmmmm
I rather bring you on your knees a force you to repent for your right wing socialistic sins committed against the people.
Great list, Larry! Thanks for putting this together. It helps those of us who don’t have time to research each and every issue in depth.
Governor-Downtown Jerry Brown
Senate- Babra Boxer
State Treasurer- Mimi Walters
Attorney General- Steve Cooley
Secretary of State-Damon Dunn
State Controller-Tony Strickland
State Board of Equalization- Michelle Steel
48th Congressional District- Never Again…thanks to someone who voted for the TARP
and the Stimulus…….we can get any Democrat to do that much….especially, when he
had tough time figuring out how to get money to dredge the back bay!
For Congress: All others we agree on!
For Assembly: We agree!
For Treasurer and Supervisor: We Agree!
Costa Mesa City Council – Wendy Leece, Jim Righeimer: We Agree!
Newport Beach City Council – Ed Reno and Leslie Daigle (What goes on partner, you
can’t make choices so close to the water?)
What about Laguna Beach and Dana Point?
Anyway, darn good job – making some traditional choices! Keep that up and you
can run for Central Committee and get elected!
Mr . Gilbert you forgot your recomendation for Santa Ana mayor race. I’ll give you heads up. Mr. George Collins a true conservative and man of honor is my candidate to end the pulido’s era in this great city called Santa Ana.I would like to see your comments in this matter.
Rosary.
While I have tried to list races or candidates with whom I am familiar I missed George Collins whom I recommended in is last campaign.
Perhaps Art or another blogger in Santa Ana might generate their own listing, or at least create a short list of those whom I have missed. Thanks for the heads up!
“While I have tried to list races or candidates with whom I am familiar I missed George Collins whom I recommended in is last campaign.”……… what about I?
You were familiar with me and I was a candidate too.
Stanley. There are many other candidates and races that I have not covered.
I only recommended those candidates whose policy statements I was familiar with from a variety of sources. Other than attacking the bloggers of the OJ have you ever published anything that I might read to help me better understand where you stand? Send us a link as it might help get you more votes
Stanley. I am familiar with George Collins and in fact interviewed him for the Juice when he previously ran for mayor of Santa Ana.
So Mr. Gilbert are recomending Mr. Collins for mayor of Santa Ana, yes or not?. Pedroza already endorse his pappy pulido do not think that he is going to endorse a conservative and man of honor as Mr. Collins!!!. Do not go arround the bush and answer the question.Thanks.
Rosary.
As it has been roughly two years since I interviewed George I would need to devote some time to see what his current positions may be with regard to redevelopment in Santa Ana and a list of other questions.
Do you have any idea of the number of OC candidates who I did not include in my voter guide who also want the same consideration?
While I surely spend many hours researching and reporting on this blog I do have many other personal duties that, as of late, have been pushed to the back burner.
I do know how to reach George and will make an attempt. What about Stanley? Where does the line end?
Mr. Gilbert If you are doing 100% of good job in order to recomend a candidate and guide your readers have you interviewed all “your” recomended candidates with the same questions and lenght of time?. That is where the “line” ends! Lets show our values, prniciples and standards even in the blog activity.Thanks.
Rosary.
Do you have any idea as to how much money we earn spending an unlimited number of hours, seven days a week, writing and responding to comments on this blog?
We are all volunteers with other personal duties and responsibilities.
Even the OC Register, where their reporters are compensated, do not cover every single candidate.
Sorry if you are disappointed in my voter guide which is simply that, a tool for our many readers. If you don’t wish to use it that’s your choice.
Governor-Downtown Jerry Brown
Senate- Babra Boxer
State Treasurer- Mimi Walter
MQ says:
A RINO”S LIST!
OMG:(
Nut Meg: Do we really have a choice?
Carly: Do we really have a choice?
The bottom line is that we have no choice in the matter. For some reason people vote for the rich and idiotic. We just need to keep their feet to the flames!
The only recommendations I agree with are Art Pedroza and Yes on 23.
How can you call yourself a “Libertarian Republican” (a laughable term no less) and endorse Meg Whitman, Sheriff Joe Arpaio (or “Arpayoso”) clone Allan Mansoor, Don Wagner and TARP supporter John Campbell?
Maybe the members of Metallica envisioned these types coming to power twnety one years ago in their song “Eye of the Beholder” when they sang “Freedom…with their exception.” These so called “libertarians” and “champions of individual freedom” believe in individual freedom with the exception of FISA, the Patriot Act, REAL ID, same sex marriage, repealing the draconian drug laws, etc (insert your asterik here)..the mantra of most of the know nothings that have hijacked the Tea Party and claimed it as their own idea because they read the Cliff Notes of Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged.”
GF.
If you follow my prior recommendations I endorsed Steve Poizner. At the end of the day Steve lost. There is no way that I would recommend Gov Moonbeam.
I also recommended Conservative and TEA Party member Lee McGroarty over my own Congressman Gary Miller. As Lee lost in his primary challege I am left with two major party choices, the second of which lost in his race for our city council two years ago.
My point is that while almost all of my recommendations are registered Republicans they do not get a free pass simply because of the party affiliation as demonstrated by my error in forgetting the broken tax pledges of Able Maldonado and Mike Villines. Those prior recommendations have each been removed.
Art Pedroza saves my bacon. He may be the only non Republican in my listing of candidate recommendations. Having known Art for over a decade in connection with the GOP, and specifically writing on the Juice for the past four years, I gladly endorse him for the SAUSD Trustee slot.
MQ,
You are great! Actually, you are right about Mimi.(although my Great Grandma was named
Mimi)….she never returns our e-mail inquiries.
But having said that – No Meg…..ever! And although we tried our best to consult with
Carly….this is a girl with a mind and dollars of her own. Doubtful that she is going to
listen to anyone….ever!
Make offer specifically on other offices and we will consider.
