Art Pedroza has a poll over at the New Santa Ana where he tries to indirectly portray as political moves, the call by at least 6 Latino organizations to have the OC Grand Jury investigate top Santa Ana officials activities. At the request of the various organizations, I detailed the concerns at the Press Conference we held this past Wednesday. It seems that there is this underlying attitude that Citizens should accept the betrayal of the public trust or the disdain for Citizens concerns by the Santa Ana City Council and the Mayor!
My response to Art’s poll:
“Art,
I think the real poll should be whether YOU SHOULD MOVE on from attempting to manipulate and portray the HIGHLY regarded and INDEPENDENT organizations as political stooges or your wish to paint Citizens concerns as political moves as YOU DEFEND THE INDEFENSIBLE.
If you notice of the 4 items of concern to the community and organizations, 3 have surfaced close to or AFTER the election
The People Political Targets of Law Enforcement:
a) SAPD Chief of Police NEGATIVE political involvement ONE day before the election and no chance to respond, in very likely violation of the highest ethical standards and Codes of Conduct of both the CA Police Chiefs Association and of the City’s own Code.
b) Mayor Pulido’s supposedly $500K “finder’s fee”; in very likely violation of both the CA Dept of Real Estate Laws and of the City’s own Code of Ethics.
c) and the City Attorney BACKDATING OF START DATE by 13 years that I identified through my research and of which I spoke about at the City Council, which in effect created an additional Gift of Public funds by increasing his UNUSED Vacation and Sick Leave by close to $200,000, in addition to the close to $142,000 that should be paid if he was TERMINATED; or NOT paid if he resigned.
Unfortunately, I think you are making the same mistake that the City Council is making, assuming that valid concerns of the citizens are political moves.
You claim that you have the best interests of the City in mind, well I propose that you strongly consider the fact that having:
- the FULL-TRUTH,
- ACCOUNTABILITY,
- TRANSPARENCY,
- the HIGHEST (not the Lowest) ETHICAL behavior and
- OVERSIGHT OF and BY elected or appointed officials
also leads to an improved city whereas BETRAYAL OF PUBLIC TRUST and DISDAIN for Citizens’ concerns does NOT!
As I said before, YOU have to MOVE ON from what I call the ArT I V O effect.”

I must say that your commentary over on The Voice of OC is quite well articulated. Those who think that the good citizens of Santa Ana should shut up and meekly accept the general lack of transparency and accountability in our government are out of their minds.
Unfortunately I think Art’s circumstances have more to do with his sea change on Santa Ana’s Mayor/City Council than any dramatic change in actual policies. Pulido/Purdrido, Claudia/Clownia, such an about-face without demonstrable differences, is not credible.
I do wish Art and his family well, but I wish he was a little more cautious in his judgements, I think it would serve him better in the long run.
Caution is the enemy of shill-dom.
I AM SHOCKED!!
Art Pedroza’s blog has an article of political content posted?? I am really, really (NOT) shocked!
Sal Tinajero told the City Council and Santa Ana residents that Sean Mill’s association with Art’s blog DID NOT involve politics – only good, positive and uplifting articles to promote the City – but definitly NO POLITICS.
And Sean, … Sean had every opportunity to disabuse Sal of that notion and did not do so – in a public forum.
I am shocked (NOT) and disillusioned (NOT) to discover that those two fine (NOT), upstanding (NOT), citizens of Santa would out-right lie.
I guess that I will just have to put Sal and Sean into the DRMF category.
Francisco,
You continued baseless attacks on Chief Paul Walters are shameful. Chief Walters has every right to voice his opinion in regards to the Mayor’s race. It is clear that you and your coalition, of mostly outsiders, are trying to silence any opposition thru intimidation.
Are you going to file complaints against Sheriff Lee Baca and former LAPD Chief William Bratton for publicly supporting Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa?
Chief Paul Walters is one of the most respected law enforcement officials in the United States and we are very lucky to have him here in our city. He is a man of unquestioned integrity and professional standards.
Just because you and others continue to scream these false allegations of wrongdoing on his part does not make them true.
Shame on you!
“Chief Paul Walters is one of the most respected law enforcement officials in the United States”
I couldn’t agree more. Although I received what I felt was the inappropriate robo call to my home. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for a servant of the people that I hold in high esteem.
Not to long before the robo call. Chief Walters spoke before Com Link and mentioned how the police force had been reduced to the staffing levels of the 60’s. Speaking to him after the meeting I could sense the stress of the job trying to continue to do a good job with less resources.
The pressure put on the chief by Miguel Pulido to do something that I believe he was not comfortable with is typical of how Pulido spreads the grief. No different than the Narcos in mexico who give you a choice of plomo o plata. Lead or money.
Go Go Go Francisco!
Art is careening off the rails, trying to suggest that critics of our city are getting close to “inciting violence”. Some one made the comment that Art’s new blog is the Fox News of the OC blogosphere, I think they were right.
From Art’s Santa Ana News;
“And Amezcua’s backers also include a lot of right-wing residents of Santa Ana. Loughner often cited Republican spin, such as focusing on the Constitution, property rights and “treasonous laws.” The same anger Amezcua continues to fan on the left has been simmering on the local right too, for a long time.
I hope the Democratic Party of Orange County, and the O.C. labor leaders, will step in and have a talk with Amezcua before this deranged and bitter movement of his results in bloodshed. The fact is, he lost in November. It is past time for him to move on. If he wants to run again he may do so in 2012. Until then it is highly irresponsible for him to continue to rant and rave. I would much rather see him offering positive solutions, but that is something he didn’t do during his campaign. I cannot imagine he might actually have any good ideas now.
Don’t forget by the way that Amezcua’s clients over the years have been the very worst gang bangers and drug dealers in Santa Ana. Loughner, born September 10, 1988, had a court case involving possession of drug paraphernalia in 2007, according to an online news report. Imagine if one of Amezcua’s clients decides to pay back a favor to him by doing something awful to one of our local elected officials? God forbid…”
Joe, you wrote “No different than the Narcos in mexico,” do you mention the corrupt in Mexico because Nelida and her first husband thinking only of the money, use to smuggle desperate latinos into the U.S., just so as profit from their desperation? You have no business talking about the wrongs of anyone when you have engaged in so many unethical acts and surround yourself with unethical people.
