While not a surprise to most Americans who follow the health care debate, and the GOP election blowout in November, the House voted today to appeal the Patient Protection Act HR 3590. “The vote was preceded by a day and a half of debate on the measure, known as the “Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act.” Source. The two-page bill would repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA)According to Politico every member of the GOP, joining with three Democrats, supported this vote.
The next step in the process is for the Senate to consider their vote if it ever comes to pass. I expect that Harry Reid will use his majority to block it in the Senate.
Following are some members quotes from Politico:
Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) called the law “a trillion-dollar tragedy.”
Rep. John Duncan (R-Tenn.) described it as “job-killing” and “socialistic.”
Rep. Kevin Duncan (R-Texas) said “health care is too important to get it wrong, and Obamacare got it wrong.”
But Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) took the debate to a new level late Tuesday night, suggesting to an empty House floor that Republican rhetoric around health care reform is akin to Nazi propaganda that fed anti-Semitism during World War II.

OK readers. Do you think this vote will have any traction or will the GOP simply choke off any funding requests resulting in a standoff with the White House?
It’s so nice to see that the Democrats have honored their own call to tone down the heated rhetoric. I can’t wait for the MSM to do numerous stories on Congressman Cohen’s divisive and shameful speech…still waiting.
Update – Anderson Cooper actually put the screws to Cohen recently. Shockingly refreshing.
