Amanda Knox, Casey Anthony and Dominic Strass-Kahn.  Looks like no matter where you go…..getting away with murder or rape is just a matter of public relations and cash pay outs.  No, we are not being negative.  No we are not being doubtful about society as a whole.  No we are not being cynical with the harsh realities of political sway and swagger.

Let’s start with Amanda Knox.  “Foxie Knoxie” had this cute, connected and rich Italian boyfriend, in an area of Italy known for being elitist.  Perugia is located in Umbria….dead center in the middle of Italy.  It has world famous chocolate and a history not distorted by the vestiges of war – so much.  Students from all over the world come there to engage in language schools, party atmosphere and a beautiful environment.  Amanda Knox came from Seattle, where her daddy was a big VP for Macy’s.  She was a cutey to be sure, but then her concept of reality may have been a little twisted when she got to Perugia.  In two weeks she found a cute place to live and an rich Italian boyfriend.   Her stoic English roommate may have exhibited some jealous behavior, because she was in Perugia to study and get an education.  Amanda didn’t tidy up her room much, never did dishes and generally left her stuff all over the place, between partying with the Italian.  “We were just doing Marijuana and having sex all the time!”  Amanda told police after the murder.

We will stop right there and simply say that whatever happened after the above – ended tragically for her roommate Meredith.  The Italian legal system, being what it is, initially did the right thing and the story was lurid and complicated.  Fast forward four years and you have Donald Trump supporting the Knox family in their great “miscarriage of justice”.  You have media folks like Dan Abrams touting how much Amanda has suffered.  You also have Nancy Grace saying that Amanda, even though she was released because of International Political Pressure….(Cash perhaps?)….was most likely responsible for the death of Meredith Kercher.  But who will ever know.  Amanda is safely back in Seattle, readying her book, movie and centerfold deals.  Well, we could be wrong….but then we will certainly see how many weeks she will be spending at Trump Plaza in the months to come.

Casey Anthony, gone but not forgotten.  Casey, secretly writing the book and movie script.   Her Mom and Dad….still pandering to the press hoping for another morning spot with Anne and Matt on Today.  Dominic Strass-Kahn is safely back in Paris…..dodging everyone except his local press.

These events reflect an interesting concept of what Justice means.  While thousands demostrate in the streets against Corporate Greed, the Countries of Iceland, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Portugal, France and more……sit there….on the titter-todder of possible Economic collapse.  Greece is great example of using government as a means of greed and corruption, paying out salaries and perks equal to four times what they bring in…every year.  Purely, unsustainable and the best part is:  They are not going to pay back anyone.  They refuse to collect taxes and they refuse to be coerced by the Germans.  The folks at Goldman-Sachs continued to get their annual bonuses.  The people that needed to be Regulated have determined through their donations to political figures exactly what those Regulations should entail.  Virtually no change from 2007!  No Nationalization, No ReOrganization, No Fundamental Return to Glass-Steagal.

There is a great feeling that right and wrong, values and ethics are old concepts that have virtually no meaning in a modern society.  The 1% continue to get richer and the 99% below continue to suffer without an option for jobs or a fruitful future.  We need to re-balance the books.  We need to take a long and difficult look at World Banking and Ethical Conduct.  We need to not accept the fact that “payoffs are a fact of life..we just have to live with”!  We need to reinvent society.  We need to re-evalute and determine – when right is right and wrong is wrong!  We need to agree on those basics.

The Wheels of Justice………..do roll slowly sometimes!  Let’s hope our future becomes brighter and cleaner.  Let’s hope we can bring some jobs back to the United States.  Let’s hope that the dumb will not inherit our earth.  Let’s hope that the meek….may start to do a little better in the years ahead.  Let’s hope that the greedy start to finally understand the damage that they have done to our world and to our society in particular, by their conduct.  Maybe…maybe not!
