So I’m looking at Sharon Quirk-Silva’s campaign’s Facebook page last night. I want to get some ideas for my own page, snag some design tips without asking for them, that sort of thing. (I’ve already tried wearing the red suit — and it makes me look like Santa Claus. No thanks!) And something captures my eye, pictured here on the left …
“This can’t be real,” I think to myself. So I click on the name, check out the account, and — judging by the friends she has, seven of which we share, it looks like a real account. That or some very straight-laced people have been taken in by a pretty elaborate prank. (I’m not showing the friends, but the section on the right comes from the person’s page. I’m not naming her or her husband so as to thwart search engines.)
Could be a joke, could be that someone hacked into her account, could be that they were “at odds” — I don’t know. Help me out here, folks — I thought that I was ready for Orange County politics, but it looks like it may be even weirder than I thought. I’m betting that it’s not real, though, because I think “para” should be “por,” right?
By the way, if this was a hack into her account — not funny, miscreants, so cut it out. (And if it was a joke, also not funny — or at least I don’t get it.)
(For the record, if my wife ever announces an endorsement of my opponent on her Facebook page, it will have been a hack — though possibly by a relative.)
And today’s Facebook reports that: Mayor Sharon either believes that it’s real or is willing to go along with the joke:
Next time, Mr. Norby, take out the trash when she tells you to! (Or whatever.)
Please allow me to translate:
“Sharon, my husband stays out too late and is hard to get in touch with when he is in Sacramento. Please go to Sacramento and watch him closely. Report back your findings often.”
