Maine is the newest state to move forward with labeling GMOs. Last week it was Connecticut. Vermont is not giving up either — even with the threat of a lawsuit by Monsanto. So what’s up with the supposedly most progressive, liberal state in the union — California? Last November Prop. 37 failed (not by much though). But still over half of voting Californians don’t think they have the right to know what they are eating? I still can’t believe voters allowed themselves to be duped by Monsanto — is it due to all the GMO corn syrup they have been ingesting?
Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), recently tried to get votes to repeal the Monsanto Protection Act Bill, however, he was not successful, BUT at least he brought up the discussion. Are you aware that five countries canceled ALL their wheat orders from the United States? Why? Because Monsanto’s unapproved wheat went rogue and was discovered in some field in Oregon — the wheat Monsanto now claim they destroyed. Has Monsanto ever heard of pollination? — how about animals and birds eating the crops and then pooping it out somewhere else? — do they understand how “wind” works? –or are they just plain lying? I will go with Door #4 —they are lying and hope the public will buy it as fast as they do their unlabeled gmo foods.
So what is happening behind the doors of our representatives in the State of California? I did a word-search on the http://www.legislature.ca.gov/ website for gmo bills or committees even discussing gmo related issues in the Assembly or State Senate. I came up with a big fat nothing. So much for our fantasy about being progressive.
*Inge…don’t give up. We know we are pushing seaweed against the tide…..on this issue….too many mega-bucks by Big Chema and their cronies. Vote buying is so easy and simple and effective. How can you fault their very effective tactics?
Don’t worry, when the word does get out on Diet Sodas, Undigestible Cereals, Liver
poisoning and heart ailments……related to GMO foods….well……maybe someday!
those of us who grew up here, grew up on tommy’s burgers, strips from shacks at huntington beach and original jack in the box…and we are still here. so, again i ask, what is everybody’s problem with putting a few more chemicals into the food if it tastes good
getting Stage 4 rectal cancer from eating gmo foods without my knowledge is reason enough for me….and costing the California tax payers at least $500,000 to fix it…while Monsanto keeps on making billions! and gmos are subsidized with your tax dollars…so enjoy that crap…you are paying through the “ass” to eat it…without your knowledge or consent…keep acting smug…you might be next.
*Willie, those old time taco strips on the beach and those delicious beach burgers….would be considered “Organic Health Food” today! Those were the days when they were not feeding the cattle GMO corn, soy and wheat feed. Those were the days before Monsanto killed our American Corn Market and made Corn less than digestible. Had any good popcorn lately? Extra butter of course….lots of salt…..?
the popcorn at the island cinema in fashion island is wonderful
GMO food is progressive. Organic food is conservative. Organic is what most people ate up until WWII at which point in time food got progressively worse because of pesticides, GMO alterations, and factory farms. George Washington ate organic food only it was just called food back then.
