Does Garden Grove Councilman Andrew Do live in Santa Ana?

Andrew Do

There were a lot of rumors last year that Andrew Do, who serves as Chief of Staff to Supervisor Janet Nguyen, was running for the Garden Grove City Council as a carpetbagger.  Today I received a note from a reader informing me that he had caught Andy red-handed – at his real home, in Santa Ana.

Here is the note, “Art, I confronted Andrew at his Santa Ana home a little before noon today. As he arrived “home”…I asked him if he was “still going to call me a liar on Tuesday night”. (Garden Grove council meeting) His response as he is caught dead to right was “yeah, I’m still going to call you a liar” We”ll see how this plays out Tuesday night when I expose this. His Santa Ana address is 1911 Beverly Glen (a $1,190,000.00 home)-Zillow Andrew was dressed casually in shorts and a white t-shirt…clearly this was his “home.”

Andrew Do's House

As you can see in the map above, Do’s Santa Ana house is miles away from Garden Grove.

Isn’t it a felony to run for a City Council when you live in another town – and to lie about it?

Do made the headlines last year when his boss Supervisor Nguyen voted against restaurant health ratings.  We then broke the story that Do and Nguyen’s husband, Tom Bonikowski, co-own a Lee’s Sandwiches in Stanton which has received over 40 Orange County health violations.

Bonikowski was subsequently appointed to the Garden Grove Planning Commission.

Looks like the Jannies are just as corrupt as the Trannies…if not more so.

I wonder if we will see anything about this from and on fiberal oc?

It’s starting to seem that the OC GOP and the DPOC should start to manufacture their own nice canvas Carpet Bags, to hand out to their candidates when they can’t find any in the proper districts. They could be festooned with an elephant or donkey, and be just big enough to hold the right amount of clothes to last thru election season. Would this be a viable idea?

    Vern,

Maybe their parties should just buy them all GPS units so they can figure out where they live…

Janet Nguyen and Andre Do are “thick as thieves”. There’s no way Janet Nguyen is unaware of what’s going on with this deception. Rumor last year was Janet set up Andrew with the owner of the Garden Grove house where he undoubtedly does at least rent a couch and some driveway space to occasionally park his vehicles to create the appearance that he lives in Garden Grove. He has owned that Santa Ana house for several years now. This is similar to what real estate investors do to get loans..lying about still living in their old home and saying they are living in their now second home..when its all a lie. How do such liars sleep at night?

The Garden Grove Police Department and District Attorney’s office did nothing about this carpetbagging. The Police and Fire Associations endorsed and supported Carpetbagger Andrew Do for the City Council race.
The senior City Council Member and former Mayor Bruce Broadwater questioned Andrew Do’s residency at a recent city council meeting. He is clearly concerned a fellow city council member does not live in our city. He suggested someone hire a private investigator to check into the residency issue.

Why won’t Andrew Do move to Garden Grove, aren’t we good enough for him?

    #5,

Good news! I have noticed folks in Sacramento reading this story all day. Do is going to get called on the mat…

    Art,

Thank you for reporting this important story. Where someone is registered to vote is not residency.
Residency is where you live, sleep, receive your mail and verify your drivers license as well as pay your property taxes.
It is crucial to have residents represent us at the local level.

I spoke with a neighbor of Andrew’s in Garden Grove. This neighbor told me Andrew and his family live across the street from him. I believed this kindly senior neighbor. This neighbor also mentioned they are gone alot, particularly on the week-end. The truth as I believe it to be is this. Andrew Do and his family arr “sucking it up” and staying in this Garden Grove house some of the time. It is as though they are “going to work” by being there. They are clearly also maintaining their Sant Ana mansion. (neighbors description and mine too) Only when returning to their beloved mansion/home is the family “off the clock”. If Andrew Do had lost the election last November this family would have rarely set foot in Garden Grove since, if at all. This whole affair is a deception on the part of Andrew Do. I personally would prefer a councilman that wants to be in Garden Grove. If Andrew Do wanted to be in Garden Grove why is he continuing to spend so much time at the old mansion. Has his Santa Ana mansion become his week-end party house? With week-ends being quite long at that? This whole fiasco is not passing the smell test.

4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 3400 sqft. Bought about 7 years ago for about $733,000. Nice, very nice, but hardly a mansion… but VERY NICE.

Anyway folks, who cares?? Nobody does. Andy Quach lived in GG and rented an apt in Westminster to run. I bet we all can name many others that did something similar.

Look, I said nobody cares… but in fact, I care and I know you care, BUT generally speaking, not enough people do, and that’s why these people get away with it. You can make all the accusations you want, Andrew Do and others like him will just look at you and laugh. Because they, like many other politicians are lying bastards and they DON’T CARE.

At the Tuesday night Garden Grove city council meeting Andrew Do blatantly lied about his involvement with the Santa Ana house he owns. Live and in color on channel 3 (for GG residents next coupla weeks) and viewable anytime on the Garden Grove website http://www.ci.garden-grove.ci.us/ (city council agenda & videos) Oct. 29,2009 I was there in Santa Ana and witnessed his arrival to the home. He was not there in response to any concerns about the home. He was flagrantly caught in the act of occupying the home he owns. Even if he splits occupancy with his rental home in Garden Grove. Even if he only occupies this home on the week-ends. Why was it so important to tell so many lies at the council meeting. He also lied about his public exposure at the Garden Grove house. I have driven by that home around 3 times a week for the year he has occupied it. That would be around 150 times. I have only seen 1 sign of life ever , even that was not Andrew Do. He seems to play a game of parking one of his vehicles (probably registered to 1911 Beverly Glen) for a few days at a time. The big questions are why does Andrew Do feel the need to lie and embellish. Is he breaking some law that only he is aware of? He also lied completely about what his neighbors supposedly told him. His lies totally shocked me. I gues I assumed an elected official was’nt allowed to lie like that. How naive was I? Andrew keeps calling this a political issue, this is a moral issue. Andrew Do has shown me he has very low moral standards.

    Nguyen Hung says:

Andrew Do is a liar? I believe so. Not only that liar, he is also a coward or chicken wet. Why?

Last year 2008, he called me a crazy dog on the radio (VNCR 106.3FM) and (VMG 106.3FM) both Vietnamese broadcasting. He also accused I received 1% net from Presidential candidate Senator John McCain. I requested either an apology or proof for the accusation on Vietnamese newspaper, letter or even I spoke on Garden grove council meeting. Until today he still not response to my request.

Any suggestion? I am planning to come council meeting one more time then a lawsuit, possible.

It’s not rocket science to see what A Do has done. He did the minimum required to run for city council. (technically rented a house/room in GG) When Janet got him elected he really NEVER came to GG UNTIL some pressure was put on him at the council meetings. I know this for a fact. I have observed this farce for the past year. ONLY RECENTLY has he started to have this back and forth between Santa Ana and GG. Before him and especially his family was continuing to live in Santa Ana as they have since 2002. For A Do to say now that he only goes to his house in Santa Ana… (which I am sure has been continuing to receive utility bills and other proof of its occupance)…for him to say he only goes to Santa Ana when his neighbor supposedly phones him is such a stone cold lie as to insult all of Garden Grove and Santa Ana. A little internet search has enlightened me that A Do is famous already for having zero integrity and being basically just Janet Nguyens “hitman”. I hope more people will stand up to this bully at the council meeting. We hopefully will stop being victims of his ilk.

    Big Al says:

I listened to the defensive and disrespectful way councilman Andrew Do treated Garden Grove resident, Rod Powell at the city council meeting. Mr. Powel investigated on his own where councilman Do lives in Santa Ana. Andrew Do implied and treated Mr. Powel as though he was breaking the law researching where a Garden Grove Councilman lives.
Thank you for posting the website.
It is Andrew Do who is lying.
Lam Pho researched the home that Andrew Do owns in Santa Ana for the past seven years. Let me get this right Andrew grew up in Garden Grove and as an adult decided to buy a home in Santa Ana, then run and won a seat on the Garden Grove City Council?
    How is this legal?

    Rod P says:

Andrew Do took the bait, and lost his cool, then told many out right lies at the last council meeting. Andrew, when you read this blog, as I know you will, know that you should have kept quiet. Your lack of ability to maintain your composure will be your political undoing. Andrew, I think your “boss” (county supervisor Janet Nguyen) should have INSISTED that since you have been gone from Garden Grove for over 20 years….and have the audacity to run for Garden Grove city council…..Janet Nguyen should have insisted you actually move to Garden Grove. Andrew, once you tell ONE lie, you are now branded as a liar, and can no longer be trusted. You’ve told many lies. Go back home to Santa Ana. You can not undo the fact that you continued living excusively in Santa Ana for several months into your councilman position. Just because after being “outed” you at least started trying to make it “look” like you live in Garden Grove….the insult to all of us Garden Grove residents can not be forgotten. I look forward to confronting you again Tuesday night at the Garden Grove city council meeting. I suppose I need to make it more clear what I saw in Santa Ana when you and your family arrived home from your Sunday excursion.
