Why FOX NEWS, Isn't actually NEWS at all

Rachel Maddow points out what has been largely overlooked in the discussion of the White House feud with Fox News, that explains why Fox is not news.

What other “news” organization promotes protests against the GOVERNMENT?

Okay, Terry, I watched your silly clip of Faux Noise beating their chest over how great they are.  At some point I think they’re going to have to stick to the entertainment angle and drop the “news” angle, altogether.    ;-)

LOL! And we can take the word of Democrat Party mouthpiece Rachel Maddow! Wait, Vern. No, mouthpiece isn’t an allusion to her sexual orientation. Sorry, you can’t make excuses for her that way.

I am tickled that you tried tho!

This is interesting. Fox is a “news” station when it serves their needs. But they really are not news. The Daily Show with John Stewart does a better job with news coverage than fox does and is certainly more fair and balanced. Interesting.

Fox News is to concervatives what CNN is to Liberals.

    Red Vixen says:

Terry, I watched your video clips. I certainly hope you watched mine!

You’re a bright guy – I figured that you might like SOMETHING that Rachel says?

Andy – when I feel like watching something on fox, i watch Colbert instead for the laughs.

    Larry Gilbert says:

Hey Red. As you are critical of FOX News reporting have you ever watched Dan Rather on 60 Minutes as he used that bully pulpit and national audience to discredit president George W. Bush? Was Dan “reporting” a bullet proof news source and story before airing that BS?

Here are two reports on “Rathergate” that you might enjoy reading.

And lastly here’s what CBS had to say about this bogus story.

    Larry,

Did you watch my video clip?

The articles you are referring to in your links are from 2005 and 2004. WHY are they important now? We are talking CURRENT EVENTS here, Larry. I am not interested in re-hashing some old controversy. I’m hoping you have some personal perspective to give after watching the clip I chose. Pretty please….. ;-)

    Larry Gilbert says:

Sorry Red. But Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann are both bought and paid for. They do NOT report news.
Although this blog has been around since Rathergate I bet that Dan’s attack against the president of the United States was never addressed on the Juice.
So therefore it’s a trip down memory lane triggered by your piece. Thanks for giving me an opening to take that trip. Good job!

    RV,

The White house, had fluffly friends, like: Barney, pebbles ect… now it has, fluffy news casters, from: NBC,CNN,ect… Mr. Obama just needs to put a collar on them!.

My family watch, fox news in Ireland.

  • 9
    Red Vixen says:

Okay, Larry. You pretty much summed up what the video was about. Fox is a perspective…. in some ways a very unrealistic perspective. I understand why you cannot stray and look over a simple video that may give you an alternate perspective. I am glad you enjoyed revisiting an old controversy ;-)

Michelle, that is very interesting about your family in Ireland! Do they consider it news, news? Or do they just like it a lot as a television program? I’ve traveled quite a bit and the “news” in places like Australia and Hong Kong are really “news” about what is happening with basically NO persuasive commentary attached to it. THAT is not the MO for fox or as others have pointed out Rachel/Keith shows. Of course Keith and Rachel basically claim that their shows are about politics. FOX NEWS is a misnomer. It is ALSO a political show, imo.

  • 10
    Vern Nelson says:

Well, that is over SEVEN MINUTES LONG – WAY too much sensibility and reasonableness to expect Terry or Larry to suffer through.

Larry says Keith and Rachel are “bought and paid for” – really, who bought and paid for them, Juice Brother, we’d like to know this! As far as I know they are paid by MSNBC because they are popular and beloved to a boatload of us citizen viewers, and hence attract advertisers.

And Terry lazily labels Rachel a “Democratic Party mouthpiece,” making it clear that he has never watched an hour of her; she (more than Keith but sometimes he too) regularly criticizes the White House and Congressional Democrats from a left perspective.

But I know that hearing this “carpet chewer” out for 7 minutes plus would be way too painful for these two (although I’ve suffered thru numerous of their rightie clips) so I’ll summarize it for them: Rachel contends that Fox is not a news channel, or not simply a news channel, and that the White House is correct to recognize this and behave accordingly toward it, BECAUSE one of FOX’s biggest activities lately is organizing anti-government protests.

NOW I will do Terry and Larry a great favor that they don’t deserve, and tell them what their next comeback should be: Keith Olbermann (which they wouldn’t know as they are afraid to watch him) has been organizing pro-healthcare reform events himself, for a few weeks now. It would be inaccurate (but not beneath their usual standards) to call these “pro-government events” – inaccurate because it’s pretty hard to tell if the White House really wants the strong public option that us progressives are fighting for. But if I were Terry and Larry I’d start calling out the White House on double standards for treating MSNBC like a news channel when it’s starting to do something a little bit like Fox but on the opposite side. You want to try that line, guys? You would be on more solid ground than usual.

Fox News stinks and isn’t even funny.

Terry Crowley taught me how to make that argument.

  • 18
    Terry Crowley says:

This is hilarious! A bunch of Democrat apologists first denying that MSNBC is a liberal bullhorn, then saying “hey, lets look forward, not back!”

Bet if I wrote a piece about all the time Obama has spent on the green hitting around a little ball in his nine months, we’d talk about all the time Bush spent on vacation instead. You people take NO time examining the veracity of your comments or opinions. You just feel them.

Vern, I would give you some advice in return. Start admitting that when some news sources start putting out information you don’t like, leftists attack it. Jake Tapper is probably not long for his job the way he asks real questions.

    Hint: he’s not on Fox.

Admit its intellectual laziness on the part of leftists that 1. they don’t want to admit there is nothing to their left they wouldnt disagree with 2. most Americans don’t buy it 3. very few people are actually watching left wing point of view news.

  • 19
    anon says:

    Mr. Crowley,

When you acknowledge that Maddow has taken on the President (and you know she has), then, and only then, will you even BEGIN to have the credibility to lecture us on intellectual laziness. Take a look in the mirror buddy.

Did anyone here say that MSNBC does not have liberal observers? No. Does Fox have partisan conservative observers? Yes. So what have we established? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. We have noticed that you have utterly failed to address the SUBSTANCE of Maddow’s story. Perhaps you could muster up the courage to make an argument on THAT, instead of simply bringing the rank, dismissive, partisan nothingness.

  • 20
    Vern Nelson says:

This is hilarious! A bunch of Democrat apologists first denying that MSNBC is a liberal bullhorn, then saying “hey, lets look forward, not back!”

I’m sorry, I really don’t understand what you’re saying here. Do you need a cup of coffee? Get those neurons firing better?

Bet if I wrote a piece about all the time Obama has spent on the green hitting around a little ball in his nine months, we’d talk about all the time Bush spent on vacation instead.

That would be a pretty lame piece, I hope you don’t waste your time writing it. And that would be a pretty difficult comeback to resist. But like I said, I personally am going to save the “Bush was worse and you guys have such double standards” component as “Frosting” – frosting on the cake of either defending or criticising Obama’s actions on their own merit. I will never leave out the cake. Can’t speak for my comrades.

Start admitting that when some news sources start putting out information you don’t like, leftists attack it.

“Don’t like?” You mean, disagree with, or consider inaccurate? Well of course we would “attack it” by which I assume you mean, argue. Shouldn’t we? Or do you mean, valid information that makes us uncomfortable. Well, an example of that latter would be the video you put up of some Obama underling quoting Mao as a favorite philosopher with no obvious irony or caveats. I don’t know if anything was cut out of that video by the Fox people, but as it stands, I couldn’t defend her and said so.

Jake Tapper is probably not long for his job the way he asks real questions.

Jake is a very good journalist. I assume he asked some questions recently that made you happy. Want to share? I hope he doesn’t go the way of the Washington Post’s great Froomkin.

    Hint: he’s not on Fox.

I know who Jake Tapper is, dork.

Admit its intellectual laziness on the part of leftists that 1. they don’t want to admit there is nothing to their left they wouldnt disagree with

Not true. There are things to my left that even I, FAR LEFT VERN, disagree with, but why get into that when to YOU, Barack Obama is a leftist. There are plenty of us over here saying, Hey Mr President, what about single-payer healthcare, what’s taking so long on Guantanamo and giving trials to our prisoners, let’s get out of this quagmire in Afghanistan, will you finally take some control of these Wall Street monstrosities instead of dancing to their tune, and much more.

    2. most Americans don’t buy it

Red Vixen was exactly right the other day when she said 76% of Americans want a strong public option for health care. That was a Washington Post poll last week. And to you I know that’s “left.”

    3. very few people are actually watching left wing point of view news.

Well, then our stations and channels should go out of business very soon and you won’t have to worry about us any more!

This could get tiresome if I respond to everything you write, but on principle I sometimes will. I’ll watch your silly 9-minute Pajamas Media video if I get the slightest evidence you watched Red Vixen’s 7-minute Maddow video.

  • 21
    Terry Crowley says:

    Vern,

One wishes the veracity of your claims could be upheld. Alas, not much from your blowhole proves anything at all.

I think how much our teleprompter in chief actually spends on the job, like the rest of Congress, is a story. Again, THAT is news. Not the latest “People love Public Option” propaganda.

The REAL truth is that a majority don’t want Obamacare, and dont want a plan only Demoncrats support.

    http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x1295.xml?ReleaseID=1382

You can CLAIM that people want a “Public Option” but Demoncrats can’t keep their sticky little socialist fingers off of it. Just pass the reform and leave the dogma at home.

I’ve written before, mandate coverage, use the funds to help everyone else get there, and the democrats can worry about the cost later. stop saying it will be “deficit neutral” or cost saving. Those aren’t in your repertoire of concerns, as spending other peoples money is of no concern to leftists. Stop calling the public option something other than what it is, and join reality, loser.

  • 22
    anon says:

“Stop calling the public option something other than what it is…”

You mean like when you engage in nothing more than speculation and proclaim that it is nothing more than a socialist takeover of the healthcare system? LOL.

I call it exactly what it is…a public option to the private healthcare market. Option. Option. Option. See that word? Option.

    Hi Red:)

Yes they do watch it to catch up on American news and politics.

The Acorn mess, was a big shocker in Ireland. My sister could not believe that an organization even existed like Acorn. She could not believe they were getting so much in tax funds. Like I have always said, the term Social Justice, really means, “to create the poor, and profit from it”.

Fox news, breaks the news that we have been expecting to hear. That is why Fox News, is #1.

Red Vixen was exactly right the other day when she said 76% of Americans want a strong public option for health care. That was a Washington Post poll last week. And to you I know that’s “left.”

Sorry Red, did you mean 76% of slackers. Because they are the only people who would want anything public!.

You my friend, are having a wee brain fart:)

    Vern Nelson says:

Okay then, cook up your Obama on the Golf Course post, but be prepared for hoots of derision! I think I may sit that one out. Good day, sir.

    Terry Crowley says:

Hoots from who? A bunch of brain farts for whom the world hasn’t changed since they were 18? Means I’m doing something right then…

    Have a nice day!
