The Face of defeat: Jon Fleischman realizes Ackerman is done
As you might imagine, all the Republican bottom-feeders who backed carpetbagger Linda Ackerman showed up at Supervisor Chris Norby’s victory party tonight, in Fullerton.
Jon Fleischman and Matt “Jerbal” Cunningham both shilled for Ackerman, but sure enough, there they were at Norby’s party last night. They were joined by Supervisor Janet Nguyen, who hedged her bets by endorsing both Ackerman and Norby. She slithered away before we could get a picture of her…
Fleischman reportedly told his readers today, over at the Flash Report blog, that Ackerman could have won if there had been more time. I don’t think so Jon! She was D.O.A.
The room was filled with horrible Republicans including Mike chroeder, Tim Whitacre, and Supervisor Janet Nguyen. And there were a few Democrats too, including Santa Ana Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez, former Santa Ana Councilwoman Lisa Bist, and Pat Kelly, of the Teamsters.
Norby gave a fiery victory speech, but then he said it was time for all Republicans to unite behind him. He essentially welcomed the Ackerman hacks to his campaign.
One of Norby’s consultants, Matt Holder, told us that he expects Ackerman to endorse Norby – but her husband Dick probably won’t. Of course Dick has other fish to fry given the increased scrutiny that his illegal lobbying for the sale of the O.C. Fairgrounds has received lately.
A friend of mine figured that the OC GOP machine spent about $150 per vote for the few votes that Ackerman got. Nice! And Ed Roski blew his wad for nothing.

Good Pics, Art. Although I have not been initiated into the secret FFF rites, it was fun hanging out with Tony Bushala again and it was a really good time.
I hadn’t seen Chris for awhile. I commented to him that the victory came 15 years late and he wisely corrected me that it came at a great time.
I too wondered what Fleischman was doing there. Exceedingly bad taste in my opinion, but it was Norby’s party, not mine.
