Interview of an American Hero. Walter Ehlers

In opening our Register this morning I noticed  the front page story of medal of honor recipient Walter Ehlers attendance at Mariners Christian School in Costa Mesa.
This reminded me of our Cutting Edge-a talk show exclusive interview of Walt at his Buena Park home a few years ago.
Acknowledging today as Veterans Day I thought Juice readers might be interested in some of that discussion. Producer  Ron Winship even asked Walt about  ”the girls he left behind.”
The interview covers his entire life; from growing up on a farm in Kansas, his family, enlisting in the Army; combat stories –including the loss of his older brother Roland on Omaha Beach, to his service at the Veteran’s Administration.
His congressional medal of honor reads “for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty on 9-10 June 1944, near Goville, France.”

To see this commercial and cost free 60 minute program simply click on:
www.cuttingedge-atalkshow.com and go to the archives of the home page. Once there scroll down the archives section until you come to American Hero where you will find a thumbnail photo of Walt Ehlers. Click on that link and enjoy!

Let us take a minute today to remind ourselves that “freedom is not free.”
