Orange Juice reader Rob Cook reports that Aloha, the homeless lady in Santa Ana whose cart was taken from her, has a new cart – courtesy of the Catholic Workers in Los Angeles. The cart has been equipped with a notice regarding Santa Ana’s shopping cart rules.
The cart also sports the “Catholic Worker” label (see the picture below).
According to Cook, the cart was picked up and brought to Santa Ana by our former blogger, Thomas Gordon. That is commendable and quite karmic given that Aloha’s cart disappeared sometime after she was paid to hold up a sign saying she would kick Santa Ana Councilman Carlos Bustamante’s a** for food.
Well, all’s well that ends well. Congratulations Aloha on getting a new cart. From all of us here at the Orange Juice, “Have a Merry Christmas!”
Good to hear glad Aloha’s life can get back to normal.
I will not commend this article though, heard about the cart a day or two ago, its a shame it has to be cheapened by once again bringing up the photo. Gotta use every opportunity though right?
Ya Art, the guys who took and distributed that photo aren’t the bad guys we are for exposing them.
When will we ever learn? They’re the heroes in this story.
LOL!!!! WUTEVA!!!!
There are no hero’s contrary to what you try to portray. All of this was a mess from start to finish. And you are part of that mess although we know you only pass it around never taking any blame on yourself.
Wow who sits on the Juice all day? You may have a blogger status but so do other people you condemn for posting during the day.
Em,
Why all the negativity? The lady’s got a new cart, since the last one was cartjacked. Before the November elections, she willingly took a controversial picture for some fast money. She’s semi-famous now because a couple of blogs keep posting her picture and blaming each other for a small list of perceived offenses. Maybe there’s no actual hero here, but rather just the regular riff and raff of life.
RV-
I am happy for Aloha. I am tired of the BS surrounding the photo that seems to bring up at every turn. This could have just been a hey everybody Aloha got a new cart post but it wasn’t. And Sean belittling every time I make a comment. He may think he can make me go away but that’s not gonna happen, but I wish him well in his endeavors.
Em, don’t go away. Just don’t have a coronary, especially not over Sean.
Enjoy something in the Holiday – bring a can of food over to Pavillions (Beach x Edinger/405) for the food drive Christmas eve.
How can I add some pettiness to this post?
I trust that you will find a way junior.
Em,
I don’t want to see you leave and I agree with Anonyms. I really don’t think Aloha really minds the attention. She’s HOMELESS and if that does not make her feel humiliation, then she’s really not going to care about a picture of her and some discussion. Just my own observation.
How can I add some pettiness to this post?
lmao, junior!
junior, I’m thinking really, really small cans for the food drive.
Thanks for posting Art.
If I can, I will sent a photo of Aloha and her new cart that can be used in place of the older picture.
Merry Christmas
Cook,
Thanks! Have a Merry Christmas!
Im glad that Aloha got a new cart. I wish there was something that could be done to help her in a morepermanat way with housing, medical, nutrition etc.
Alas, I fear that more and more people will join the ranks of the homeless before we can get oursleves out of the hole created by the years of lax regulation in the financial sector(s), and loss of manufacturing jobs to NAFTA and overseas producers.
I pledge some money to help Aloha but I do not know how to contact her and get the aide to her I pledged. if anyone can help me in that i would appreciate it.
Paul
